Teri Terry is one of my favourite YA writers
I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, Teri Terry is one of my favourite YA writers. And I think that if I hadn't gone into this book with such high expectations, I would've really enjoyed it.Don't get me wrong, this is a great story--and I LOVED that it was set on Dartmoor as that's where I live. The incorporation of Dartmoor myths and legends was also a nice touch. The only thing that made me struggle a bit with this book (well, I 'struggle' but I still read it pretty quickly) were the twins--although they had clearly distinguishable personalities, I did keep getting them a little mixed up as their first-person narratives didn't vary that much in terms of the actual writing. I kept having to flick back a few pages to check which twin it was. I also didn't particularly like Piper, or find her relatable. Quinn was much better! But the ending! It was this that definitely 'redeemed' the book for me (again, I say 'redeemed', but I still did love this book--I know I'm sounding negative!). It was the perfect ending--and really, it couldn't have ended in any other way.

Rollercoaster of emotions, can't waitto read more by Teri Terry.
Went through all the emotions, laughter, envy, fear and sadness. It would have been nice to find out what happened after the end.. Like an epilogue of sorts - whether it worked out for her, or not, with Zak.Still, amazing work, the first I've read by Teri Terry, it certainly won't be the last!!

Not my favourite of Terri Terry's
While I liked the concept and the overall dark, creepy, magical vibe of this one, I found it quite a slow read and didn't get sucked right in

Book of Lies
Book of lies by Teri Terry immediately pulled me into the story about twins separated at birth and then meeting for the first time when they are seventeen. Piper was raised by their mother, while Quinn was not. There's a mystery surrounding the twins and, while Quinn was forced to live with their grandmother, hidden away and having few unhappy visits from their mother, Piper enjoyed a happier and more comfortable life being raised by their mother. They both seem to be hiding secrets from others and each other. Supernatural forces take hold of the twins while the story twists and mysteries are revealed and secrets are told. I couldn't stop reading this book and finished it quickly. Great read for fans of mystery, suspense and a touch of the paranormal; 5 stars!

Eh
Eh this book was just okay. I wanted creepy and lies and secrets, but that's not at all what we got. Well we get a few secrets, but i didn't find The Book of Lies creepy at all and I am a bit disappointed.I've read other twin books that were much stronger in story arc and characters and so this really paled in comparison. The only part that kept me reading was honestly just seeing how the author would wrap everything up. And again I was disappointed in the direction that was chosen. I am sticking with my 3 stars because I feel this was written well and the author did make the story sorta interesting. I just wish this would have been marketed differently. If it had been my expectations would have shifted I might have had a different reading experience. As it stands though this was just okay for me.Oh and I hated the characters for the most part. I couldn't find any redeeming qualities in any of them and that was another bummer for me.

The Book of Lies takes the reader on a great magical adventure
Narrated from the point of view of seventeen-year-old twin sisters, Piper and Quinn, The Book of Lies takes the reader on a great magical adventure. Piper and Quinn were unaware of one another until they were reunited at their mother’s funeral. They first realized that they were twins because of their fiery red hair. Quinn became envious of Piper’s life because Piper was raised by her mother and father, while Quinn was raised by her grandmother, who was in poor health. Quinn coveted the idea that she could have been raised by her birth parents with her twin. At the age of seventeen when they first met, they were thrust into a world of mystery and magic through the family inheritance. The twins, who did not know each other until they met at their mother’s funeral, quickly realized that life is not what it seems. The book of lies is appropriate for young adult readers who seek adventure. This is the first book from this author I have read and found the writing style enjoyable. Overall, this is a great book for tweens and teens, as there was not anything overly objectionable in the story and it leaves the reader on the edge of their seat. I give the book 4 stars because, while it told an engrossing story, the magic and sci-fi were not as overt as I had hoped, as the relationship between the sisters was the main focus.

Grim and Suspenseful
This was a very good book! The story alternates between two points of view. We read our story from the point of view of Quinn, the girl who never tells a lie, and Piper, the girl who never tells the truth. It's a very dark tale as generations of hidden truths come into play - truths that just may kill.Quinn was by far my favorite character. She seems very naive at first, but has strengths that come out when she needs them most. Piper is interesting, but just a little too one-dimensional. She never surprises you.The bits of dark mythology that come into play were delightful - grim, edgy, and exciting.I would happily read the author again in the future!
