I bought this cider press for my husband and have helped him press both apples and grapes for the last six weeks. The size is perfect if you have your own apple trees... we had a couple of bushels to press and this was very quick. I had bought a manual grinder (not this brand) to crush the apples and while that worked well for crushing grapes, I think I will go back and get the motorized crusher to fully automate our cider production. The hydraulic jack works well and the whole setup is heavy duty steel. The inner bag that the crushed apples sit in is also heavy duty and shows no wear even after being pressed around fruit pulp with literally tons of pressure. And like I mentioned earlier, the press works well for grapes too. Definitely speeds up hard cider or wine making!

We recently purchased a property with lots of apple trees. This press worked great for making our apple cider! Heavy duty and easy to use. It pressed all of the juice out of the apples and clean up was easy.

The grinder is worth the money.the pulp press needs some modifications to be a 5 star

So far, I’m pleased with the ease of use compared to my old hand-crank press. However, it doesn’t consistently press processed apples as thoroughly as my hand-crank press. The drum is too large, and the pressure is spread too thinly to fully extract juice when the pulp fills more than a few inches depth. I expected to be able to fill the drum at least halfway to reduce pressing time, but it is only capable of pressing a couple of inches at once. Most of the drum—nearly 95%—is essentially non-functional.The 3-ton jack’s O-rings are loose enough to let hydraulic fluid pass by them before reaching the full 3-ton rating, which may be a manufacturing defect. I think this press would work much better with a 4–6 ton jack to properly press juice given the drum’s size.The handle/lever provided is also disappointing. For the price, I expected a full-length lever, but it comes with a short 6-inch lever and a poorly fitting 6-inch extension—both of which bent during the first use, raising concerns about durability.Overall, this press is severely overpriced for how inefficiently it extracts juice, lack of quality materials used and does not meet reasonable expectations. I would not buy it again or recommend it; a smaller-capacity press with a similarly rated jack (3+ ton) would be a better choice.

I couldn't get any juice out of my apples and the overhead arm blew apart when I got it under pressure.

Heavy duty press!

excellent trouble free design with adjustable height for a large wine catch pan. we used it with the included mesh screen to press out the wine skin fibers from our 20 / 7 year old carboys. the only thing that i see that could ever go wrong would be the jack and they are cheap.

Overall a great press. Very strong. Will be getting a scissor jack as the hydraulic jack was leaking fluid on the third press. Being as it is above the apples, could introduce toxic hydraulic fluid into cider.
