Such a wonderfully simple design. A underrated gem that will outshine big names like ARCS.

This is a quick-paced, fun game that is true to the spirit of the Netflix series.

Best Viking theme game around!

Whew! Candyland this ain't. Plan on an entire extended evening and be sure to set up and study beforehand. The bigger the fan of the series, the more you will appreciate the elaboration.

Been playing this one with my wife and son primarily, and we always enjoy it. The theme and gameplay are both very much in keeping with Last Kingdom, but you don't have to have watched the show to enjoy, though you might be fare better having watched since it makes the mechanics more relatable. Basically you begin as either Saxon or Dane and work out area control region by region on the map of England with armies for Danes, Mercians, North Umbrians, and West Saxons, along with your own leader unit and any heroes you are lucky enough to acquire. You have cards and market actions to help add/kill armies, move units, increase your scoring multipliers etc and by the end of 2 rounds (of 5 region combat) the highest points win. There are some catch up mechanics to help with imbalanced sides, but you do have to really pay attention to how you and your fellow players are spendingt their cards and action tokens.

Different Factions, Dynamic Characters, Card Drafting, Area Control Battling, Backstabbing, switching to different factions for your own personal gain. What’s not to love?! Seriously this game has been an absolute hit with my group. If I had one thing to critique it would be that the playtime per player is closer to 45 minutes per player rather than 30, but my group could just be slow or think about things more. Nonetheless its a 5/5 for me, and an absolute gem of a game. This is a game that deserves to be in your collection!
