This feels less like a crate pad and more like a second pan in the crate. It's not overly soft, or thick is my point. It's rather stiff, and thin, but definitely chew proof. I'm just not sure it's all that comfy -- or absorbent if your puppy/dog happens to piddle in their crate. It works to keep them from chewing through and digesting any of it though.

I'm using this as a liner in an outdoor cat house (for felines, not the other kind!). So far the cats have not chewed through it, or even chewed on it all. It provides just a bit of padding over the wood slat floor and is easy to wipe down. In the coming winter months it should also provide a good barrier to cold air, unlike a regular fabric mat.
