Neat idea! Fit and finish was very good! (not GREAT but to be expected when its a "universal" type fit product....) You need some "heavy duty" equipment (1/2" drill...large T bit...a GOOD metal cutting device...NOT a hacksaw...it would work but it would take a WHILE) and some basic electric know how (for a trailer without brakes)....but its not "tough" to do....I placed mine on a PWC trailer...I may think twice about placing it on a LARGER boat trailer....but if Fulton has tested it...and it works....ok....Also...you may be limited with with the length of "swing" you can have! (It may need to be closer to the hitch due to weight....)Overall...I am very happy with it for my PWC trailer!

This is an extremely well built product and a simple install for anyone who is remotely "handy". I cut the trailer tongue with a reciprocating saw, followed the detailed instructions and had it done in a few hours. It helps to have a second set of hands and my vise made life easier for drilling and attaching the unit to the hitch end of the trailer. All necessary hardware is included ... even the torx bit required for the bolts. I added some blue Loctite to the threads and did some heavy priming of the metal under the coupling before I assembled, particularly on the cut ends.

I figure this was a good product based on the previous reviews I had read. I just wanted to echo the positive feedback of other users. This is a quality product, quality and heavily constructed, and pretty self explanatory to install ( just have a few extra drill bits if you're installing yourself ). I extended my trailer tongue the maximum length for my trailer, and this product met every expectation. Installation time is about 3 hours. I also included tack welding the unit to the trailer tongue for extra measure.Thank youi Folton for delivering a quality product that solved my dilemma.Randy

I just bought an old boat and when I put it in my garage, it stuck out the end by about 6 inches. I bought the Fulton Fold Away Bolt On Hinge Kit and installed it. Now I can fold the hinge and close my garage door to keep by baby out of the elements. Installation went pretty smooth. The bolts on the bottom are a little tricky to drill. Make sure you can have access to some transfer punches....they really help for getting the holes drilled out right. The hinge kit is a great product.

Quality product from Fulton...with the tools and patience, almost anyone can get the job done. My vendor, ecustomhitch, was great....! Product arrived before the scheduled date. Had to make a call because transfer punch and bit were not in the box (not the vendor's fault!) A separate package, with the parts, arrived the day after I called.

I was wanting to extend a trailer tongue and decided to go with this fold away rather than weld in a brace. This went on very easily and works great. Would go this route every time if given a choice.

This thing is built solid and easy to install, once you get over cutting the tongue of your trailer. Thanks to this hinge I can fit my boat in the garage!
