Headwind EZRead 26” Giant Professional Outdoor rain Gauge, USA Made Heavy Duty All Weather Freeze Proof mountable with Float, Green (820-0002)

I first purchased this gauge quite a number of years ago. I liked the large size and that I could read it easily from inside my home--from a distance of 30 feet or so. I used it in the first location for 4 or 5 years, and then moved it to a second location for another period of at least 5 years or more. I'm not sure of the exact age of my original unit but I know I had it for at least 10 years. For the first few years I took it down during winter, but after I changed locations I left it out year-round. The only thing that changed over the years was the little orange float inside the gauge gradually faded from the original bright orange to a much lighter color. The gauge tube, holder and cup on top remained perfect, and the markings remained easily readable. In September 2023 we had a severe hail storm with some really large hail and high wind. The large green collection cup on top of the tube got knocked off by hail and the wind blew it completely away--couldn't find it anywhere. I immediately set out to find a duplicate rain gauge, and this one is identical to my first one in every respect. I don't know if this one will last another 10+ years, but if it does it may outlast me. This has been an excellent item and unusually durable; I can certainly recommend it.

This is my second one. The first was 15-20 years old and its mount was lost when the fence it was attached to was replaced. The float appears to have been improved over the years as well as multiple color choices. While the original float faded some over the years the numbers and marks were still very readable from 20+ feet away.

I like the easy to read large numbers. I hope the plastic won't break like glass.

This is a replacement rain gauge (same gauge) for one we've had for several years. The old one worked great. I could easily read it from inside the house. When we rebuilt our deck, we replaced the faded one with a new one which I know will work well for many years.

Device is not “freeze proof” but I knew that when I purchased it. Any statement saying that should be removed from description. It is very easy to see. I am happy with it.

Very easy to read and understand. Would not leave it out when the temps drop below freezing.

So easy to install! Works so well! Overnight it rained/stormed, and it was so nice this morning to wake up and easily see how much rainfall we had. Love the red float that makes it so easy to glance at and see rainfall totals!
