great colour
i got this to try on some leather. colour is so cool. As with any leather dye dont get it on your skin (skin is leather). you will have purple sploges for ages. but to the dye. two coats on neutral 3.6mm veg tanned leather gave a deep purple. TEST it out on scrap leather first. This has got to be the best i have used so far. well worth it money.

Outstanding results
This was really easy to apply, I used a medium sized water colour brush to cover an old pair of faded Dr Martens. I prepped the leather with nail varnish remover. At first some areas had a metallic sheen, but another rub with nail varnish sorted it ok. It dried very quickly. Wear plastic gloves, it stains. I finished with the leather sealant

Dye itself is great and very true to the color you expect (purple)
Dye itself is great and very true to the color you expect (purple). Just be more savvy than I was and be sure the leather you are trying to dye will take the dye. My handbag turned metallic greenish gold rather than purple, boo hoo.

Low rating because without instructions the result is poor.
I chose this because the product for suede was very good and purple was gorgeous. Unfortunately, I didn't twig that the photo showed just the bottle for a very good reason. It arrived with no instructions, no dauber etc at all. I Strongly Recommend anyone inexperienced with this stuff to choose a site which will supply the whole kit. The dye result I got had an odd metallic sheen in places, so I gave it another coat. It is now much worse and I have no idea how to rectify it. I seem to remember that the instruction leaflet for the suede version had a FAQs section, perhaps my problem may have been covered in the leather equivalent leaflet. Beware.

This alcohol-based dye smells exactly like that weird smell that emanates from every pore of a hard-core alcoholic. I wasn't prepared for that since I had used the Pro Fiebings in the past and it was an unexpected yuk trigger. The color is WOW vibrant, like the Coach ultraviolet, which they only offered for a short time on a few designs. Now you can have anything in that color! If you read the other reviews, you'll find that even with a thorough deglazing, if you're re-dyeing something with purple, you may end up with metallic splotches. Indeed, that is what happened to me with a pebbled white Sonoma Coach purse. It took an entire bottle to get something even close to even coverage. I had a dull finish with the metallic splotching and thought I'd have to toss the purse as a failed experiment. Amazingly, a similarly overdone application of Resolene finish did a rather miraculous job of evening out the tone. Here is the 'your mileage may vary' caveat: this may not replicate if you do things the 'right' way. In this case, it was a happy accident. The dye really wasn't dry, but having concluded this was already a lost cause, I figured I'd seal it properly before donating to Goodwill. First variable: dye was still quite damp. It had absorbed and was evenly dull looking, but still damp. As I was applying the Resolyne, I knocked the bottle over, completely drenching the purse. That seemed to reliquify some of the dye as I rubbed it all over trying to get everything evenly soaked. This may account for the surprising fix. It did turn out very shiny, but I am happy with it.

It is recommended to cut this dye with denatured alcohol in order to lighten up the color or it is so dark it almost looks black
