Acoustic strings - Sound great!!
Obviously the choice of strings and the sound you are after is always a very personal one. But having always used Ernie Ball etc I'd never tried these Martin ones. They tuned up very easily and have held their tension very well. Overall sound is bright without being too metallic. ... sparkly even!! I live them and they definitely live up to the retro tag. Great strings 👌

Just get better with playing
Fitted 6 months ago to my Tanglewood TW4 Koa. Recommended strings were Elixirs, but I found the G string became fluffy after a couple of months. I've had the Monels on for 6 months. Wonder if it's time to re-string soon, but I'm hesitating as I think the sound has become warmer over time. Easy fingering as well, though there are a few more squeaks than with the Elixirs. Mainly finger-picking, but I also like the gentle warm sound when strumming. Maintain their tuning pretty well, despite living in an old cottage with variable humidity.Definitely hooked.

My FAVOURITE set of guitar strings 🤩🤩🤩
The media could not be loaded.  These produce such a warm & vintage sound! I love how they sound with my Martin Guitar. They produce a deep & rich sound. They’re easy on my fingers. The longevity of these strings is immaculate. Excellent playability & tuning. They’re less susceptible from breaking.

Bad set
Used these strings before - had a strange experience with these (first time in 20 years playing). Sympathetic buzzing on B string whenever I played a C chord (I.e. pressing down at first fret) and nowhere else except C higher up (13th fret). Brand new set-up on nearly new high-end guitar, frets, truss rod etc all fine. Never had it before with other brands or with these previously. Tried everything to pin down buzz (checked nut, bridge, pins, tuning peg etc) then gave up and changed strings out for another set. Sounded far brighter and issue went away. Pretty certain just a dud set - lucky it wasn’t a gig night…!

Disappointed I'll tell you why
I thought I would give these Martin Retros a try, loading up my strings as I have been doing for 55 years I have never had a string break instantly from the ball end as you can see in the picture I wasn't even near tuning it up to High E when it snapped right at the ball end, I put them on my TakamineG series which has a very nice feed-through bridge so there's no strain or bend on the string, down through the years we all tend to break strings but I have never had a string break right at the ball. I do not find these strings very bright in fact I'm a bit hesitant to strum hard, they feel cheap. I don't like to give negative reviews I try to find some positiveness in most products but Martin& Co. WHATS GOING ON

Great for using with a fender
Great strings for using on a fender, but price could be better. Not the greatest for staying in tune with a capo
