In 1873 Oklahoma, Jed Cooper (Oscar® winner Clint Eastwood*), wrongly accused of being a rustler, is lynched by a crooked lawman (Ed Begley) and a band of vigilantes. But unbeknownst to his would-be killers, Cooper is still alive. After becoming a deputy marshal, the sly, iron-willed Cooper sets out after the vigilantes, hell-bent on justice--and vengeance--in this electrifying classic. *2004, Million Dollar Baby, Best Picture (with Albert S. Ruddy and Tom Rosenberg), Directing; 1994, Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award; 1992, Unforgiven, Best Picture, Directing.

If you like Clint Eastwood, it’s a good film. I enjoyed it.

One of the best hanging scenes you'll ever see on screen
Unevenly paced, probably why it wasn't highly rated at the time, but the Dominic Frontiere music coupled with the second hanging scene, followed by the Clint Eastwood character being ambushed and left for dead, is one of the most dramatic you'll ever see. Unfortunately the film nose-dives after that.

Really good film, especially if you liked the main trilogy...
I have owned the main Clint Eastwood trilogy (A fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more and the good, the bad and the ugly) for ages and really loved them all.I bought this in the hopes that it would be another cowboy film, just as good as the previous three. In my mind, it holds its own - not quite as good as the first three, but they're always going to hold something special to me. If you're not a big cowboy film fan, this probably isn't the place to start (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is probably a good one), but once you're into the genre, I can genuinely say you'll enjoy this a lot.

All time classic
Fantastic cast of the best supporting actors of the day and brilliant music throughout by the great Dominic Frontiere.

Hang 'em High
Eastwood carries the film with his performance as a wrongly accused (and hung) cowboy who is saved when a sheriff cuts him down after he's been left for dead hung in a tree. Not a strong film but a must for any Clint fan.
