Bormioli Rocco Fido Square Clear Jar with Chalkboard, 33-3/4-Ounce

I love the quality of these jars. The lids are amazing and when the rubber seal is installed they're airtight. I use a couple of the smaller ones to alternate my sourdough starter. You can close the lid on the starter if you leave the rubber seal off, and the yeast will get plenty of air to breathe. I just keep one in my fridge with a batch of starter ready to go. The only thing I don't like about the jars is that the metal assembly for sealing the lid tarnishes badly when put in the dishwasher, and there doesn't appear to be a way to remove it without damaging it. It doesn't keep me from using it, though! I have purchase 4 of these jars over the years and I will keep getting them any time I can come up with a reason to do so. Definitely worth the money.

Absolutely love the quality of this jar. The seal, the thickness of the glass, all of it is a quality that will lend to its longevity. The ability to write on it with chalk is an addedd bonus

I got this for my amish friendship bread starter. I liked that it looks nice so I don't mind having it out on my counter. the label comes in handy because I can write the last date I fed my bread. It is air tight so it keeps everything alive. It is nice and tall with plenty of room for the bread to grow. On the days I bake the bread I was out the jar and then add the starter back. It is easy to wash and is well made.

Better than expected

it is from italy, not china, which is a plus; the apothecary mechanism could be sturdier, the glass could be thicker, but they may not make them like that anymore so this will do for my purposes for now; i can fit my 1/4 cup scoop in the top, it holds enough sugar that i dont have to keep filling it up, it looks clean & neat on my counter plus i really like the chalkboard--i've ordered two more.

The quality of this jar surprised me, it is thick heavy glass, the rubber seal on the lid fit great, the latch on the lid works well and it seems to seal well (I’m only storing dry goods so can’t tell you if it leaks). After 2 days I wiped off my chalk marker on the chalkboard label to see if it etches, so far after just a few days it clears off well, not sure if it would etch if chalk is left on for longer periods of time. Overall very happy with the product and I plan to order other sizes for additional storage.

We have three dogs and they eat three different foods. These canisters are an attractive way to store their food on the counter top. The seal is tight, easy to clean and very sturdy. I will be buying more to store all kinds of goodies. I love the varieties of sizes.

Seen these in use for years at various select estate only coffee shops. Now I have them myself and the store my coffee beans to maintain as close a fresh roast as possible, short of hermetic seal. The freshness which burst when Kona, Jamaican Blue, Kopai Luwak, etc. is opened is just like the Barista's shop. Also oils are still present a month or longer as day they were bought. Something you don't see with the cheaper knockoffs. I even checked all the cans at their shop to see they're using these exact same jars. Definitely a great value for the price!! Now looking to try out for sourdough to see if I can get homemade Boudin's quality too!!
