Poster Art of the Disney Parks

What a Delightful Tome, full of wonderful Disneyland memories. I've wanted a book on the gorgeous Attraction Posters for some time now. Disney love aside, this is a Textbook in Color Theory and Graphic Design. This collection is Art with a Capitol A. It's a large format and a very dense 144 color pages. Of particular interest to me are the designs of Bjorn Aronson who did most of the early posters. Crisp, appealing, and ingenious. It's also nice to see Attraction Posters from other Disney Parks around the World. I'm not sure if this book contains every single Poster Image created for the Theme Parks, but if not, it has to be close. The written text is interesting and informative without taking up too much artwork real estate. It also organizes the book well by chapter and Tony Baxter's great introduction provides his usual knowledge and insight. If you are someone who collects the $35.00 framed Attraction Posters, I should point out that many of the full page illustrations in this book are around the same size. Let's just say, I bought more than one copy....and I probably could have gotten a third in the case of some tough choices about which page side I liked better.

Much better condition than the first one I ordered. No tears or other blemishes on the dust jacket. I'm very happy.

i have always loved the vintage disney posters, and when i saw this book available for pre-order, i jumped all over it! the size is PERFECT! approximately 11x14, the size is perfect to showcase the posters to full effect, even when not full-page. the chapters are listed as follows: one: here you leave today... two: main street, u.s.a. three: adventureland four: new orleans square and liberty square five: frontierland six: fantasyland seven: tomorrowland eight: tokyo disneysea nine: disney california adventure one thing, right off the bat, that i loved, was seeing the juxtapostion of the different posters for the same attractions from the different parks. it is lovely to see how nuanced the art can become from one country to the next. it is also helpful that under each poster it shows which park the poster was designed for, as well as the artist and the year it was made. the pages and binding are top notch. the book smells GREAT! a lot of the full-page posters would be more than suitable for framing. some of the stand out images are as follows: p.16: main street railroad poster in pastel pink p.34: swiss family treehouse (the colors are vibrant and beautiful) p.41: indiana jones adventure, temple of the forbidden eye (AWESOME!) p.44: adventure isle, disneyland paris (now THIS would have been worth buying the book for all by itself!) p.67: phantom manor, disneyland paris (another shining example of how the same attraction differs from park to park) p.78: storybook land canal boats (the first attraction i worked at disneyland many years ago...happy memories) p.105: disneyland monorail mark vii (a new poster created in 2008) p.132: red car trolley, disney california adventure (very period, VERY beautiful) i had no idea that so many contemporary pieces would be here, but wow! of course there are a lot of the classics (pirates, haunted mansion, tiki room, alice in wonderland, etc.), but there were lovely pieces such as the finding nemo attraction, as well as an abundance of posters from tokyo disneysea. i was also pleased to see several from california adventure. the red trolley poster is one i may actually frame. which means i will likely order another copy of this gorgeous book. :) all in all, if you are a fan of disney (past or present), art, or history (or any combination of these), you will not be disappointed in this worthy book!

This is seriously the coolest coffee table book I've ever purchased. My fiance and I are Disneyland die-hards, and we've talked long about buying a replica poster of one of our favorite attractions. I want Haunted Mansion, she wants Disney Railroad. Luckily, when we visited the park about a year ago, we found this delightful book for sale. It did the trick for us. This book is oversized, packed full of beautiful attraction art, and more. While bright and beautiful copies of the posters themselves would be awesome on their own, there's information about how each poster was made, and variants on display. This means if you're looking at Pirates of the Caribbean's poster art, you'll not only see Disneyland's poster, but Disney World's, Tokyo's, etc... It's really cool looking at the small differences. We were excited to purchase this book at Disneyland, but we luckily checked with Amazon first. It's cheaper here, and the book was delivered flawlessly to our door. It now sits on our living room coffee table, and we couldn't be happier. This is a great buy for Disney fans.

un libro ben fatto...immancabile nelle librerie dei fan dei parchi disney... ottima qualità e buona impaginazione... è in inglese ma è facilmente comprensibile... un bel viaggio nell'arte dei poster dall'inizio ai giorni d'oggi...

素敵です。 前々からディズニーランドのワールドバザールにある絵が売ってないのか探していたので正に飛びついて買った物でした。 しかし日本語版が発売され少しがっかりしましたが 英語版はかっこいいし分からない英単語を調べながら読むのも楽しかったです。

Très belle iconographie : les affiches des parcs Disney reproduites sont magnifiques (ce sont très majoritairement des affiches d'attractions des cinq parcs Disney qui existaient à la publication de ce livre). Certaines affiches sont en pleine page. A la fin du livre une affiche cartonnée recto verso est détachable ( recto : Disneyland rail road et verso pirates des caraïbes) NB : Livre entièrement en anglais mais contient assez peu de texte par rapport aux images.

Great book, I saw it in the parks but didn't want to carry it all the way home. Before buying it in the store I look it up. It was the same book, a better price with easy delivery. If you like the parks, its rides, and its history you will for sure love this book
