Great card! Plug and Play, but, as others mentioned, it runs extremely hot without active cooling. In my case it just so happened to be right next to an intake fan, so it gets cooled nicely, but I'd be worried about its longevity if it ran at the bottom of a standard ATX case with no extra fans

This card works amazing but isn't designed for the average home computer case, so be aware. The issue is that it can get very very hot. I purchased a small fan to draw heat away from the heat sink and card. Also be ware that you may need to go into your BIOS settings and do some fine tuning. After some initial hiccups with I/O errors, I changed the power energy settings and the PCIE link speed and now everything is humming along nicely. I'm using this card for my custom home lab NAS build. Currently serving 18 HDD's as a Plex media server, DNS server, file server and backup server operating with Ubuntu 22.04.

The SXTAIGOOD SAS9300-16i LSI 9300-16i16-Port 12Gb/s SAS-3 controller board introduced me to a PNP solution for my SATA drives. It can be used in RAID, JBOD. I am very pleased with it. Make sure you plug in the 12V connector as they tell you it;s not advisable to run the card without it. I mounted a 60mm fan to the heatsink because if you are running this in a PC and not a server you do not in any way have the proper airflow to keep that heatsink cool. I would buy another if needed.

Have a 10 year old mainboard with 10 sata connectors on it divided on two controllers. One of the controllers died and literally halted my system. I installed this card, as it would have cost a lot more to build a new 10 sata system or even find a replacement mobo 10 sata connectors. This card got me workung again with my 40TB ZFS system. In the future when I am ready to upgade the mobo, I can continue using this card in the next system. In case anyone else needs to import their pool, I hope you use vdevs for easy migration. All I had to do was update the zfs config with each disks new vdev id(easy to find with serial #s), udevadm trigger and import the pool by vdev id. Done, back in business as though nothing happened. One other thing that may happen, installing this card could cause a rename of your nic, in ubuntu you need to ifconfig to get new id and then edit netplan yml file in etc, reload nic with netplan try ... you'll be all set.

This is a great card. It was pretty much plug and play. However, this runs SUPER hot. I tried to zip tie an 80mm fan to it, but didn't have much luck keeping the temps down. I got this to use in my unraid box. I have everything shoved into a server case and in a rack. I can't get good enough ventilation in there. It's worth it and will use it for another project
