It's so-so. Not the best, not the worst.
It tastes like average coffee, semi strong, just not very flavorful. This was the 1st and last time we'll purchase this specific coffee.

Delicious Flavor
My wife bought this coffee to see if it matched the taste of Vietnamese coffee she often gets at our local farmer's market. It's close. According to her this coffee is the next best thing. It is flavorful and a little different from regular brands. Of course, with Vietnamese coffee you're supposed to add condensed canned milk to it, and it's sweet, but full of calories. Indulge !

Dark coffee for a cold morning
Coffee was very dark and very bold. Notes of dark chocolate and burnt toast. Good for mixing with heavy cream, creamer, or flavored. A bit too dark to enjoy black. The bag also contained an extra piece of tape to keep it sealed and fresh between uses which is always appreciated.

Not as flavorful as your typical robusta Vietnamese coffee blend
If you’ve had Vietnamese coffee before you know generally the blend of coffee is robusta instead of arabica. This ground Vietnamese coffee is actually arabica even though it was sourced from Vietnam.I did use a phin to brew the coffee but after the condense milk and using the same brew method I found that the taste tasted like regular coffee and not “vietnamese” coffee. The coffee was not bad per say but it was just average.

Vietnamese style dark roast elements work well sweet
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this. The Internet said the grind size for a phin filter is fine but the bag indicates this coffee can be used for pour overs and brewing which is typically a medium to coarse grind. The grounds are clearly dark compared to two mediums roasts I have at home. The grind size appears smaller than regular coffee but not as fine as my own grind for a moka pot.Since I don’t have a fin, I tried a pour over. I let the ground bloom and then pour about 100g of water at a time. The flavor has a dark roast element to it. Personally I would prefer a more concentrated brew flavor like a moka pot or espresso. With milk and honey this has a good coffee flavor.Although the grind is not intended for espresso, I tried it for fun. I used equal parts of milk and espresso then added a decent amount of brown sugar. I really loved the combination. It’s a “fake” condensed milk and was perfect for lessening the intense roasted flavor leaving a sweet coffee taste. I’ve never had proper Vietnamese coffee but if it’s like Thai I can see why people enjoy it and will be doing this again over ice.My brother has a phin so I will update once I’m able to give that a try since that is supposed to be the optimal way to brew this variety.
