Works great with a bit of troubleshooting
My Alienware Alpha had the dreaded yellow blinking lights of death. I Removed the old battery (which is located at the bottom of the motherboard), waited 20 minutes, plugged the new battery in then pressed and held the power button for 20 seconds. After I plugged the power cord in, it still had the blinking yellow light. I read somewhere to unplug the power cord remove the blue jumper from the pins right above the cpu and place it on the 2 pins right under the gpu fan that are vertical. Press and hold the power button while the power cord is unplugged for 20 seconds, then place the blue jumper back to its original location and plugged it in. And bam! It works! No more yellow light. Once the alienware alpha screen appears, I then hit the F2 key to go into bios, save and exit and restarted the alpha and It booted to windows! My Alienware alpha Is alive again after 7 years.

Exact Replacement for An Alienware Alpha
If you get the yellow lights of death on your Alienware Alpha, you definitely need this battery. Do a search for how to replace the battery first to familiarize yourself. It will take approximately an hour to do the swap. This includes the 20 minutes spent with the battery disconnected. The battery from Rome Tech was an exact replacement for the original, including the plug. The reviews that said the plug was different are wrong; its exactly the same. The battery comes with a dime size piece of tape to affix it to the mobo. If fixed my Alienware Alpha up.

Fixed My Alienware Steam Machine; No More Yellow Light of Death
Purchased this to fix the "Yellow Light of Death" issue that plagues the vast majority of Alienware Steam Machines. While tearing down the Steam Machine itself was a bit of a hassle (the CMOS battery is located underneath the motherboard, making for a very through process), installing the CMOS battery was a cinch. Simply pull out the old battery, plug in the new one, and apply the sticky material provided to stick the new battery to the bottom of the motherboard. The first time you start it up after changing batteries it will likely still give you the Yellow light, but unplugging it and power draining it by holding the power button for 1 minute fixes that. Before I'd get a Yellow Light every time I turned on the system. Now it's been about 3 months since I replaced the battery and I haven't experienced a single Yellow Light of Death since. I haven't found a single review, guide or forum that has definitively stated, "Yes, this is a permanent fix to the problem. You will never have this issue again after replacing the CMOS battery." I too cannot give a definitive answer, as it has only been 3 months since I installed the replacement. But I can assure you that the issue is definitely the CMOS battery and that replacing it with this one does fix the issue. As long as there's nothing defective with how the motherboard interacts with the battery, it should in theory provide a permanent fix. I promise to update this review if the issue ever returns.

New Battery fixed the 'Five Yellow Flashes" Issue
Roommate has an Alienware Alpha, and it wouldn't boot one day. Instead, the power button flashed yellow five times. This means that the CMOS battery is failing or has failed. This battery was a direct replacement, and the connector was also correct. The battery is on the bottom of the motherboard, so you have to take everything apart to get to it. If you're not familiar with taking computers apart, you may want to have someone else help you. I personally found it an easy job, but it took a little while to figure out how to take everything apart. However, be aware that the replacement battery may not be charged when you get it. This is not a defect in the battery, CMOS batteries are rechargeable. Just leave the computer off but plugged in, and let it sit for a couple of hours so the CMOS battery can charge. Afterwards, you may have to turn the computer on and off a couple times before it will boot correctly. Now, when the old CMOS battery dies it loses some settings; you'll get a message on the screen when you boot for the first time with the new battery. Follow the instructions on the screen to get into the settings menu. All you need to do is set the day and time, ignore all the other settings. At the bottom of the screen, it will tell you what keys to press to make the changes. Save and Restart, and you're done.
