WOW!!! 4 months later
Being a music enthusiast I have always admired certain brands and have aspired to own a premium set of headphones. Build quality Upon receiving the Px8 it is very difficult to be anything but impressed when first taking these headphones out of the case. The headphones design is understated yet timeless and the incorporating of premium materials really add to the overall experience. Comfort The build quality feels solid which is reconfirmed by the weight, these headphones are very comfortable and wouldn’t have any concerns with wearing for long periods. Sound. Before going into too much detail there had been some indications on YouTube reviews of these having some issues with lagging when watching videos, I am pleased to find this doesn’t seem to be a issue and have found the audio to be on point with video playback. Now to where these headphones absolutely excel, the sound on these are simply breathtaking, yes sound can be very susceptible and not everyone will have the same preferences however these headphones deliver deep rich sound whilst also maintaining clear vocals with zero distortion at the medium to high range. Yes I recognise these headphones are set at a premium price point however when compared to the AirPods Max the px8 do justify the increased cost with the inclusion of a decent carry case alone however being a iPhone user and finding it difficult to recognise any benefits with the Dolby Atmos transfer I had decided to go with the px8 and honestly have zero regrets. Simply a stunning piece of equipment to truly complement any music collection. 4 months later. Although the performance on the headphones are just simply sublime, the build quality is simply not matched. After just 4 months the stitching to the headband has detached which not only spoils the visuals but will in time result in the headphones becoming unusable due to the headphones padding eventually dislodging and ultimately becoming uncomfortable to wear. The reason opting for the flagship Px8 had been purely based on the headphones being a premium design when comparing against the px7, however I have to give credit to Amazon for reviewing my concerns and promptly arranging a return. Incredibly disappointed in having to return these as previously mentioned the sound is simply stunning.

Sound quality is out of this world
The moment I opened the case for these headphones I knew they were pure quality, the burgundy and gold colour is amazing, the design and build quality is second to none, I put them on and found them extremely comfortable and light, but not too light, you know that you have something special on your head. I like rock music but I have been listening to a range of different types, after I set the app up, set the headphones to how I like them I put guns n roses on and I have to say I actually felt my jaw drop and the hairs go up on the back of my neck, the anc is good (not perfect), but the sound is incredible, the bass is deep but well controlled, the mids are sublime and the highs are tingling without sounding harsh, I have tried a lot of headphones and the px8's performance is levels above anything I have tried previously ( and I've tried budget to high performance). Even though they're expensive, though I got them at a good price thanks to amazon, even at their original price are worth every penny, in my humble opinion there is not anything up to £1000 (or probably beyond) that can touch the looks, build, comfort or performance of these most amazing headphones. Thank you bowers and wilkins, I finally have found my perfect headphones.

Sound amazing, impressive build quality. AptX Adaptive amazing!
These headphones are amazing and easily the best headphones I've ever used! To start with the audio quality is amazing, I've tested them using a range of devices with multiple codecs, AAC, AptX HD and AptX Adaptive. Now for the best quality possible, your going to want to use AptX Adaptive. If your devices don't support it you can buy a Bluetooth dongle with support for the codec on Amazon (such as the Sennheiser BT 600). I've had no issues with the Sennheiser after updating the firmware, and there is a substantial jump in quality so I'd say the extra £30 is well worth it! (Compatible with Mac, PC, iPhone, Android) Also a little tip if you get the Sennheiser do make sure to update the firmware using the utility on there website, I had some artifacts prior to doing so. And you can also store the dongle by plugging into the PX8's USB C port :). That being said the headphones still sound amazing even using basic AAC, the audio clarity is amazing and you can make out each individual instrument with the wide soundstage. It really seems Bowers and Wilkins put a lot of effort into the design of these headphones, from the moment you pick them up they scream quality. From the soft nappa leather, to the smooth action of the hinges and the way the drivers are angled to more closely fit your ears natural shape, no stone was left unturned during the design of these. They are what I'd say is the perfect weight. Not too lightweight to the point they feel flimsy and could be easily broken, but definitely not heavy to the point where wearing them for extended periods could cause pain. The battery life sits at an impressive 30 hours, with 15 minute quick charging via USB PD. They are very easy to use with a switch to power them on and they then automatically connect to your saved devices. (You can also connect them to multiple devices at once which is a plus) The active noise cancellation functions beautifully and really blocks out external sounds so you can focus in on your music or work. And the transparency mode is amazing for if your out and about and want to be aware of your surroundings. I can't really recommend these headphones enough if your in the market for a new pair. With the frequent sales on Amazon they really are a bargain for this level of quality, functionality, ease of use, and audio quality.

It’s nearly 1:00 a.m. and I’m hurriedly skipping from song to song to see how great these cans sound. And here’s the thing: I’m using a flat signal. No equalization. No treble. No bass. Just the music as the artist and producer intended. It’s bliss. I’ll warn perspective buyers that it wasn’t always this way. These headphones definitely required a break in period of about seventy five hours, during which time I had the treble and bass at + 6 db and I played pink noise through them. When listening to music I had the bass at -2.5 db and the treble at +3.5 db because they were so base-heavy and muddy-sounding. Then it happened. I put them on and they sounded over-equalized, so I tried a flat signal and BAM! I guess I should tell you that my journey to find perfect sound was a long one, during which I bought the Bose QuietComfort and QuietComfort Ultra, the Sony XM5 and the new XM6, the Sonos Ace, the AirPods Max, etc. you get the picture. The PX8 simply sound better. Even after extensive break in, they’re still on the warmer side, which you’ll probably appreciate if you’re bothered by sibilance. Warm or not, these are still the most accurate-sounding headphones I own. But are they comfortable? YES! I find them more comfortable than my Bose. It’s the Napa leather and their gentle grip. You don’t put them on, you sort of slip into them and become one with them. I honestly forget I’m wearing headphones. I’ve worn them for hours without feeling warm or fatigued. You may occasionally hear a hissing coming from one of the drivers. There is nothing wrong with your headphones. If/when this happens, it’s because you don’t have a proper seal. Simply adjust that ear cup until this hissing stops. The leather is VERY soft and supple, so I could see the potential for issues, especially if you don’t handle them properly. There are many reviews with pictures showing the headband coming apart. For that reason, I don’t even store these on a stand, they are the only pair that I own that immediately go back into their case when not being used. Also, in order to exert less pressure on the headband, I adjust the ear cups PRIOR to putting on the headphones, as opposed to putting them on and pulling down on the ear cups. I then take them off and then retract the ear cups. Also, I never handle them by the headband. So far (knock on wood), I’ve not had a problem with the headband coming apart. They are a beautiful work of art, the aluminum accents, the Napa leather, they are gorgeous. It’s the only pair of headphones that when I took them out of the box, I felt that I purchased something substantial. Handle them accordingly and you shouldn’t have a problem. ANC: if these headphones come up short, then this is where. The ANC is acceptable. It’s actually good. It’s just not great. You will not get the same level of sound cancellation as the aforementioned headphones. I’d say they’re on par with the Bose QuietComfort 45, which is certainly respectable, but it’s not on par with the cutting edge tech in ANC. it’s definitely not a deal breaker for me. The pass-through mode is again acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Battery Life: While breaking in the headphones, I left noise cancelling on and ran them at about 80% volume, and I was definitely getting thirty hours out of a full charge. So far I’m very pleased with the battery. It also seems to charge quicker than some of my other headphones, which was a pleasant surprise. I hope I’ve helped you make a decision. If I have, then please click the “helpful” button so that I know I’m on the right track with the info I’m providing. Thank you. I’m going to get back to my music. Happy listening! Update: in the interest of full disclosure, after extensive listening to many genres of music, I’ve settled on -1.0 db bass and +1.0 decibel treble. They were just a smidge too warm with a completely flat signal (also, my iOS phone is set to “rock.”) This could all be because of presbycusis due to my age (53). All things considered, they are the best-sounding and still require the least equalization of anything I’ve owned. Update 07/07/25: I’ve since purchased the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay H95s. I got them on sale for an incredible $649 (my Px8 were only $408), and my opinion (with new information) has changed. While I still think the Px8 sound great and provide a very enjoyable listening experience, they do lack the detail and resolution of the H95. I’m dating myself here, but it’s very similar to comparing the old Bose 901 speakers to a pair of Vandersteen model 2CE. While the 901’s provided a great listening experience, they lacked the detail and resolution of a pair of Vandersteen speakers. Like a pair of Vandersteen, the H95 are far more neutral and balanced than the Px8. For more info the H95, see my review on the Amazon product page. I still love my Px8s, but I do think a true audiophile would prefer the H95.
