The first step in using this massager is to thoroughly clean the feet. Then you are to apply an oil to the feet. The recommended oil for Kansa Vatki is Gee (a butter product) or coconut oil. I've used standard massage oils and also magnesium oil. The massaging technique is to move the textured bowl in a circular motion over the base of your foot applying just the right amount of pressure. It's very relaxing. I find it rather difficult to get my wife to do it for me. She'll give me a massage on the back or shoulders but stays away from my feet. I don't blame her.
