It looks like Apple have ceased retailing the original adapter, so I thought I’d try out this much cheaper alternative. The outcome is: it works!This adapter isn’t only useful for connecting a camera.I needed this camera adapter to connect my guitar to my 9th generation iPad via a Fender Mustang Micro, so I can play or record in Apps such as Garageband or Anytune for quiet practice and learning. I wanted to keep the process as simple and portable as possible (guitar > iPad > headphones) without the need for additional power (meaning more cables and being limited by access to a power socket). Using a usb to lightning won’t work and most other instrument interfaces require a power connection and cost a lot more.The packaging of the adapter is similar to Apple and includes a protective cap for the lightning end of the cable (which is nice but I know it’s going to get lost quickly!)I hope this review is helpful for other guitarists wanting a simple quiet practice setup and saves them a few pounds too.

Decent looking quality, plugged it in, plugged in a MIDI controller. Worked first time.Would be nice if it was a bit longer but apart from that extremely pleased.

This item didn’t work with my iPhone 13 it powered on my hard drive it just didn’t show up in files. But it did work on my wife’s iPad

Very useful and easy to use

If you plan on using this to connect an audio interface to your iPhone or iPad - dont bother. Had nothing but trouble, constant disconnecting and not connecting at all.Decided to buy an official Apple camera adapter and that worked 100% perfectly. Sometimes there's a reason Apple stuff costs more.

I brought this to confirm or not whether my original OEM (expensive) cable was playing-up or if it was my DAC; as I was using it for the connection between my headphones - DAC - iPhone. It was my DAC headphone socket in the end so I'm glad I didn't buy the Apple cable!
