Q: Do I measure the length overall the belt end and include the buckle?

No idea about length as chart only mentioned gloves. However FWIW I was a 46 inch waist and ordered 3XL. #this took up to the second last hole. I have since lost weight and had to put two extra holes in. When I order again I will specify 2XL. They are good belts.

Q: what is the thickness of the leather?

I bought two over a couple of weeks and both meusured with a digital caliper at 2.7mm thick and 2.6 mm thick so on that basis I would say they are between 2.5 and 3.mm thick . But surprisingly pretty strong and worth the money (see my review)
