Endless Fun!
Making beats is endless fun. Got bored with my drum machine. So I decided to try making beats and adding sounds. Along with other instruments!

Great workflow for getting ideas out quickly
This thing is really good at getting your beats and ideas down. Very responsive, and fast. Easy enough to record a sample, or import one, and chop it up, slow it down, whatever you need to do with it. I am still learning my way around it, but it is very intuitive to use.People say that it is a daw in a box, and it is that, and more. It’s just got a different workflow compared to the daw’s I have used in the past, but not very difficult to learn.I have yet to try and piece together a full song on it, but I will update my review if need be. If you’re on the fence definitely get one. They are great.

So far so good
Had this now for a few months and I can honestly say that I’m not disappointed. Although I’ve been into music most of my life, I decided to learn how to produce my own music. I’ve learned that there’s so much to learn. However, you can tell the difference from when I started until now.Good price and great product. My friends have other versions and they are amazed at what this one can do. I already want to upgrade but this is teaching me new things every day. Will follow up with a review in a few months or after a year.

AWESOME MACHINE!!!
It is such a great difference and upgrade from my Korg DDD-1 which I have had for over 30 years. The touch screen makes everything so detailed and precise that making beats on here is so easy that I can teach my youngest child how to use it. It’s a lot of fun to use, so much fun I brought one for my cousin as a gift and he’s in love with it!

Atrocious quality control
I ordered the first on Dec 30. Then it arrived on Jan 2. When I plug my earphone to the monitor jack, when then volume is low, I only hear sound from the left side. As I increase the volume it slowly goes back to center, but the volume is already too high. I requested replacement the next day. In the meantime I connected it to my spare audio interface and continued exploring, which works fine (I asked customer service and they said it's okay to keep using it while waiting for the replacement item).Today my replacement item arrived. It has an even worse issue that I can't workaround. The drum pads are too stiff that I literally feels pain in my fingers if I want them to trigger. I tried sensitivity and threshold settings and they didn't help much (if at all).I then compared the two I have at hand and apparently they used different materals on the two units. The first one I got was actually a newer unit I believe since the serial number starts with A124, while the other one starts with A123. I'm not sure if it's an issue with quality control or they just upgraded the material, but the one I got is just terrible.No. For a $700 machine, this pisses me off.Goodbye AKAI.

Takes beat making to the next level
Amazing I use FL studio , but when i bought this , and really sat down with it for two weeks it blew my mind on how creative you can be. The sounds on here are really clear. The software integration to the pc is amazing. It is possible to mix on the mpc as well as the pc . I usually master my finished beat in wave form in ozone. For the price it was. I think it was worth every dollar. I watched YouTube videos for 2 weeks until I learned the basics which lead to my first complete beat. You also can use vsts on here as well. I would advise watching videos on YouTube if you want to get a all around perspective. I've always wanted a mpc , and I finally bought my first one , and it's been a great experience for making you're own beats from scratch as well as chop sampling. I'm not to big of a sampler , but all around it's great.
