Intelligent writing
Jonas Jonasson has a distinctive style of writing which is filled with talented, flawed characters with their incredible detailed back stories and a plot that doesn’t seem plausible. But most importantly his writing is a satire. And he’s the best at in in current times. This book was a commentary on influencers, politicians, and bankers done in the most funny way.I was looking forward to reading this book after reading The Girl Who Saved The King Of Sweden (brilliantly written)It starts off with a marvellous chef Johan who has been labelled The Idiot by his elder brother Fredrick.Johan meets a woman Petra, The Prophet who foretells that the world will end in 13 days. And hence they start on the adventure to tell the man she loves that she still loves him and teach Fredrick a lesson before the end of the world. The book was engaging and absorbing until the middle part. Then it started faltering with the plot going haywire with Johan’s father, a government that’s corrupt and the characters that seemed lovable in the first half became tedious and unappealing when the world didn’t end.Nevertheless it was a twisty plot and Obama was a fun character!Jonasson never loses the plot but with this book he might have lost the purpose. 3.5/5

Decent Meandering nonsense
If you like a book that stumbles gracefully from one absurd plot line to the next, then look no further.
