Top quality, awesome utility and a firm favourite…
Loses a star on ‘Value for Money’ as it’s the ‘pocket’ size. £11.50 (at the time) I feel, is £2-3 too much. However; the quality, utility and usefulness of these ‘reporter flip’ notebooks is unmatched. The simplicity of flipping them open, making notes, perusing notes and generally enjoying whatever it is you are doing, is unparalleled and a thing of beauty. To make notes, of note, is notably enjoyable and I love it!Moleskine is Moleskine, you know what they are, you love them or, you don’t. No shame either way.I also enjoy another brand or two, one is German, another Japanese, they have different utility to this. So, if you want the traditional & long admired quality quality breeds, go for it, if not, go amazon basics. My view is this: food and shelter are the most important needs, sort them out. If, ‘IF’, you have the money to spare (we don’t always), go for quality. There’s nothing worse than reflecting & making notes on inferior paper with an inferior writing implement. Buy; good pen, pencil and eraser, & quality notebooks.Label your notebooks when they’re full, file them suitably for future reference, and most importantly, as you go through using them, try to do the following; write lightly so you can easily erase if needed. Use space in a sensible & methodical manner that makes (tidy) sense to you. Use all space, don’t waste any. Make an index, and make your notebook personal to you. If you are inclined, personalise it with stickers or sketches on the covers. Accessorise it with a Velcro stick on pen holder, buy some ribbon to cut into strips and use as page markers. Do whatever you like to personalise it and make it ‘feel good’ for when you use it. Why? Because; if you feel good about your notebook, you are far more likely to be inspired to write great things in it, or pertinent and valid things that make some sort of wonderful sense, to you. Everyone should be able to look back at their notes, years from now, and think ‘yes, I really enjoyed that or what a great idea that was’ etc.Have fun, don’t eat pencils - they contain lead, and don’t eat erasers, either - they taste minging!Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day.

More expensive than an A4 pad, but more convenient
For wannabe novelists and screenwriters like me this is a handy way of keeping notes. It is not pocket sized (unless your anorak, like mine, has large pockets) but there again small note books don't really do the job when you need to write down plenty of material. This is big enough to get most stuff down but is smaller, and more convenient, than an A4 pad. There are times, like when meeting the writing group down the pub, when table space is limited and then something smaller than A4 is preferable. The quality of the paper is upto the job too for smaller nibs (0.7 mm) at least. I couldn't say whether or not larger nibs (1.0 mm) and fountain pens would blot through. Also, there is plenty of pages too.Works almost as well as an A4 pad, but easier to walk around with.I have also tried the hardcover version. The soft cover version is easier to shove into a coat pocket and more comfortable when walking around. Otherwise the two are basically identical.

Good Quality, Nice Book
Would I Recommend: YesWould I Buy Again: Yes, if wanted that size and orientation (portrait)Brief: This is hard backed and fronted pocket sized reporter style i.e. flips up (also a bit like what the police have) notebook by the renowned notebook makers Moleskine. It is lined and its in the normal portrait orientation. I bought it for note taking while out and about as I generally have a notebook with me for business and for jotting down creative ideas/ to do's etc. I have dropped this from my daily use although it is a very good notebook, mostly due to the fact I like to be able to rip pages out and this is string bound at the top and makes that difficult. It is bigger than the police style pads and so is bigger than Im used to but I really do like this notebook and would recommend it for someone who likes quality. Obviously it takes a pencil well and does okay with a pilot G2 0.7 and my Lamy Safari Medium Fountain Pen with minimal leakage through the page.Pros: Good size, hard backed, good quality cover and bindings, plenty of pages and good page quality.Cons: Non really other than for personal reasons, I would like to see a landscape version (there may be one!) and the pages don't tear out easily.

You can never go back
I wanted a notebook this size and I knew moleskine were a good brand, so I decided to take the plunge and buy one of these and I have to say they are incredible. The cover feels firm and really really fantastic quality, and it's strength and firmness allow you to take notes easily in the air without having to put your notebook down on a table. The paper itself is also of a much higher quality than normal paper, as you would expect from moleskine. It's smooth, almost silky and almost cream in colour. As for the detachable pages, they are brilliant as well. Instead of having to rip out pages and ruining your notebook they are perforated, and not in the awful tear-up your whole book kind of perforated. Overall I would thoroughly reccomend this notebook, it's good quality, functional and long lasting (i've had mine for about 4 months now, still holding up great).KLKAlso, the elastic band doesn't become loose or fray after long term use, it stays just as elastic as it was the day I bought it!

The best note books in the world.
Oh this is nice.I’ve bought Moleskine books for years despite not being 100% sure how to pronounce it.They hold together very well.....mine is in and out of my pocket all day....and are nice to write in.They look the part too.I regularly have to stand in front of customers and give them information. It looks so much more professional when that’s presented to them from notes written in something like this compared to the notes scribbled on bits of paper.

Discontinued?
It's a shame this model was discontinued. The experience of writing and doodling in a landscape format is far better than the portrait one.
