good portable soldering alternative to butane
I usually keep my JB pyropen handy for field soldering, but someone had one of these at field day this year, fixing the dc jack on his SDR. That was my first time seeing a usb-powered soldering iron, and I was surprised it had the power needed. But it's not USB-A, it's USB-C, and has a useful power delivery. He just had it plugged into a USB power bank, and it worked well. Electronic temp adjustment, and fast heat-up. So I got one for myself. Comes with a variety of tips that are buil onto the heating end, so when you change tips you're also changing heater. This places the heater in better contact with the tip, and they warm up almost instantly. Like you turn it on, and within 2 seconds the rosin that was left on the tip is already smoking. There are a few different kits available, but this one comes with several tips/heaters. a chunky AC power adapter (that works great to charge phones too) as well as a hyper-flexible USB-C power cable. It can also be powered directly off 12 volts via the included barrel adapter, though I don't know how that affects the power output. Honestly, just the inclusion of that nice 65w USB A/C power adapter alone makes this kit a great value. Comes with a cover for the tip too so you can close it up and put it away immediately after use instead of having to wait for it to cool. The super-flexible cord is a nice plus, it gives me better fine control of the tip than any of my other irons that have stiffer cords on them. I also like the rubber grip on the end, it's very comfortable. I was a little concerned about what looked like proprietary heater/tip units so I looked around, and was satisfied to find several vendors selling replacement tips. I ended up buying a set of replacement tips to have as spares just in case.My set didn't come with a travel case though so I ended up packing it all in a small iPad mini box for now. That's the one thing I'd change - include a fitted travel case for it, since it's being sold as a field soldering iron.

Works as good as it looks
That was fast ! My old soldering iron took almost 5 minutes to get to temperature. This gets to temperature in seconds. Item is slim and easy to manipulate in hand. The soldering iron comes with multiple tips for a variety of jobs and is well packaged. My favorite thing is the screen with built in temp selection. What sold me on this particular model was the ability to set it to left hand use.

Keeps up with my $400 Hakko.
I have two kits - my (now discontinued :( ) FX-951 with all the trimmings back when that was $400, and this. This thing with a good insulated 65w power supply and an RC battery are just about better than the Hakko. It's got some useful (if bizarrely accessed) settings, and responds well to the current it has available. Give it a 24V battery and you can do car lugs with this thing. I retrofitted some wood burning irons and it runs those too. I haven't managed to burn it out yet. What my Hakko has in precision, accessories, and workroom workability, this has in adaptability and tenacity.

Excellent value.
This is now my go-to soldering tool: great value and high quality. Love the silicon power cable, it's so flexible. Love the extra tips. Heats up very quickly. This is a solid buy.

This thing's alright for what it is.
The temperature control is pretty good. The provided tips cover a wide variety of applications. It could come in handy under the hood of a car or some other place where you can't take your work to your bench. My only gripe is that the box it came in doesn't hold all the stuff that came in the kit I bought, so I had to turn to one of the stl-sharing sites for a case to print.

Rapid startup, 25W...
First of all the unit that I have will only adjust to 20 volts, that might be different with a firmware update, but I don't have time for that. So at the max setting of 20 volts, it will draw more than 25 watts when it heats up (10sec). After it heats up no matter what tip or what you are trying to to solder, it will not draw over 25 watts continuously. This is a 25w soldering iron at the end of the day.

Great Soldering Iron - Wish More Companies Made Tips that Fit
I love this soldering iron. I have been using it regularly for about 6 months and have not had any issues. It heats up fast, it is small and portable, it comes with a good variety of tips. No complaints about the functionality. I was going to go for a pinecil or other popular options, but settled for this one based on reviews and availability. I am very happy with my purchase. I hope more 3rd parties start making tips to fit this soldering iron.
