Does the box come with the mounting plate?

No just the box. You need to specify make and model of bike for them them to spec mounting bracket.

The box itself must connect to a Givi MONOKEY mounting plate. The reason many people shout MONOKEY in capitals is because Givi have a different (lighter duty) connection detail known as MONOLOCK - you don't want MONOLOCK unless you have a Monolock box. Other manufacturers (e.g. SW-Motech) make Givi MONOKEY compatible plates, so the other part of the equation is that the plate assembly is specific to your bike.
