A superbly effective treatment for my Lhasa Apso, with a chronic dry eye condition.
I am very, very impressed with this eye gel. I have an elderly Lhasa Apso dog, she is a very precious and beloved little girl, and I was devastated when she became blind through a deteriorating eye conditioning. Sadly, just before Christmas 2015, she had to have her left eye removed, as the condition had deteriorated so badly. She has come through the surgery remarkably well, and now, the most important on-going thing is to keep her remaining eye as healthy as possible. The vets prescribed Viscotears, to be applied to her eye several times a day. It worked well, however, it was costing me almost £20 for just two small tubes through the vets, and while I would spend my last penny to look after her, I did wonder if it might be possible to find an alternative that would be more affordable, but still do exactly what I needed.I found Lumecare on Amazon, and having had the vets confirm that it was a very acceptable alternative to the Viscotears that they had been prescribing, I placed an order. The first thing that I should point out is that the cost of TEN tubes of Lumecare was just £15, that makes a huge difference to my budget, and means that the extra money saved can be put to other vet care costs. The next very important thing that I would like to mention is the rapid delivery - the Lumecare that I have ordered several times now always arrives VERY quickly, safely packaged in a box. However, the main factor has to be how good the product is for treating my little dog's dry eye condition, because of course, this is what really matters! I can honestly say that it's far more effective than the Viscotears ever was. I can apply the Lumecare three times in a 24 hour period, her eye is very well lubricated, and she is obviously very comfortable. Her remaining eye is actually in better condition now, a year after her surgery, than it was when she sadly had to have her other eye removed - the vets are very happy with this, as of course I am! As far as application is concerned, she is a very good girl, and she allows me to gently hold her head, while keeping the tube above her eye, and squeezing a 'dose' of the gel into her eye. The gel is quite cool, so she does react with a quick blink and rubs her face against my hand, but this is accompanied by a lot of tail wagging - I can only hope that she gets relief and comfort from the treatment, and she certainly has never seemed to have any discomfort from having the Lumecare administered. As I would never give her something that I felt would hurt her, I did give myself a 'trial dose' first, before I actually started using the Lumecare, and while it certainly felt quite cool on contact with my eyes, there was no stinging, no discomfort, and my vision was not impaired. As my little dog is blind anyway, the possible temporary blurred vision was not going to be a factor, and I was happy that she was hopefully not going to have anything stinging or otherwise causing her discomfort in her eye... it most certainly would appear to be the case. I can only say again that the vets are very, very happy with her eye, and the condition has been stabilised. I don't know what the future will hold, but right now, I can say that thanks to using Lumecare, I have been able to secure my little dog a year of comfort and better eye health, and this means the world to me.I cannot recommend Lumecare highly enough. For anyone who needs the same effective treatment for their own dog, I can honestly say that I would not hesitate to use it, and recommend it most confidently. Of course, I would say that you should involve your vet with on going care for your own dog, and make sure that the Lumecare is going to be a suitable treatment - I don't know of any interaction with other medications that Lumecare could have. While I do know that my own dog also receives other treatments from my vets (steroids by monthly injection, regular antibiotics, and daily antihistamine meds) and there are no known issues with using Lumecare with these treatments, it's always the best idea to check any new proposed treatment for your own dog, with your vet, first. It's unlikely that Lumecare would interact with other treatments, but I am not a vet, and I am not qualified to comment on other dog's treatments. What I can say from personal experience is that Lumecare can be used alongside other eye treatments, e.g. Mackerel drops. All that you need to do is use the two treatments at different times - allow one to work, leave sufficient time for it to be effective (at least one hour between doses would be recommended), then administer the other treatment. So, If you have to use an antibiotic or similar medication, administer it as usual, and leave an hour before using the Lumecare. By staggering the doses, it simply allows both to work best, and the lubricant in the Lumecare won't 'wash' the antibiotics (or other treatments) out of the eye.Just a few notes finally about giving this to a dog, that I hope might help. The Lumecare is not liquid, by the way, it's a good consistency gel, so it's actually very easy to administer. I would say that it's best to hold the tube quite high over your dog's eye/s, firstly, the tube itself won't be close enough to harm your dog if it is sighted, and happens to jerk it's head in reaction to the gel going into its eye, or indeed, to simply seeing a foreign object coming close to its eyes. Secondly, this keeps the tube itself sterile, as it could be compromised if it came into contact with the face/fur, especially if your dog has one eye that is infected; you don't want to inadvertently be putting gel into an uninfected eye with a tube that has come into direct contact with an infected one. These are just little things that will hopefully help you if you have never used this sort of treatment before. I have found it easy to use for my little girl, I simply take her face in my hands, and reassure her, and when she is sitting calmly, I take her fur under her chin gently in one hand, while holding the opened tube over her eye. The tube just needs a gentle squeeze, the gel comes out smoothly, and the whole process takes less than 30 seconds. A biscuit,a fuss, and off she goes with her tail wagging. She is happy, which means that I am happy!I appreciate that this is a somewhat long 'review', and it doesn't address human use of Lumecare, but I know how much using Lumecare means to me and my little one, and I hope that it might be as helpful to other dog owners, who may find themselves in a similar situation. To close, I would simply add, I cannot recommend Lumecare highly enough, from every aspect - service and very prompt dispatch, effective and beneficial help of the gel itself, and certainly for price. Don't worry about this being a 'cheap' alternative product, it may certainly be very affordable, but it is a very high quality eye gel, and extremely helpful to treating my little dog's dry eye condition. I hope that if you are reading this because you need similar help for your own dog, you will feel confident to try Lumecare - it has given my little dog so much help and excellent treatment, and I am a very happy returning customer who will certainly be continuing to place repeat orders, here. Good luck with your situation, whatever it may be, and I hope that you might find Lumecare as helpful as I have.

My desert island product- wouldn’t be without it !
This eye gel is very soothing on tired eyes- especially after working on computers! It is also hood at preventing runny eyes in the wind and sun - i highly recommend this product which is safe soothing and inexpensive. It lasts a long time too but has a recommended shelf life . This product was prescribed to me by my doctor but it’s cheaper to purchase on line and in bulk. It’s the first thing I put in my eyes in the morning and the last thing at night. Great stuff

Excellent eye gel
Does what it's supposed to do - hydrate dry eyes. These were prescribed for me but it is an effort to get them every 30 days so I buy a multitasking to last me 10 months. The thing is even if there is quite a bit left in the tube after 30 days, it goes off and makes eyes sore, so you have to open a new tube.
