Perfect for Ink & Washes – Love This Sketchbook!
I absolutely love this Canson Art Book! The watercolor paper handles ink drawings and washes beautifully without warping. Very durable! It’s the perfect size, the pages have just the right texture, and the spiral binding makes it easy to work on. Definitely a staple in my art supply collection!

Loved this for traveling
The paper can be used on both sides. Each side is the same finish. Took to watercolors and ink well. While not quite up to Arches, it’s the best watercolor sketchbook I have found. I was sensitive to how ink would work with the rough grain, but I had no issues. (Used fountain pen, Pigmas, etc.) On a few sketches when I added several layers of paint, it did not do as well as Arches for uniformity, but that was a rare use. Book is substantial. I like the hard cloth cover and the spiral binding. Perfect size for my use. I have tried other books from Stillman and Burns, Moleskine, Pentalic, W&N, and this just checked all the right boxes for quality, size, and cost.

Not impressed
There are many, many better watercolor sketchbooks and paper out there, for this same price range. The paper is thick, yes, but it warps/wobbles with water, and it needs to be in the closed sketchbook under something heavy to flatten out (and it will not flatten completely). There is no mention of its cotton content, so I am betting there is no cotton at all. If I am paying this for 24 sheets, and I wanted it to be spiral bound (I prefer hardbound), I would rather pay a little more and get the Arches version of this called Arches Watercolor Travel Journal, which is 6x10 ( so bigger) and although it only has 15 pages and cost $2 more, it is such a far superior paper. The only problem is once you use Arches, you won't be satisfied with anything less, LOL!
