I've seen a number of children's bows that are VERY poorly made, or barely work, but this one is very different.The bow is much more powerful than most children's bows, it's really not a toy.The wood used for the arms is very strong and springy, and it's a different wood from the handle (wrapped on very firmly with waxed twine).The arrows are real arrows, with wood shafts, but rubber tips. However, the bow is powerful enough to punch straight through cardboard even with the rubber tips, so I feel they give a false sense of security.So I'd definitely recommend supervising its use.Unfortunately the wood of the handle and the arrows isn't sanded well, and it's a little splintery.And the string is plastic for some reason, but it seems sturdy so far, so I'm not sure if that's a negative.Also, the quiver only holds 3 arrows, and it comes with 5, so that's a bit weird.I was going to give it 3 stars because of the splintery finish and the lackluster quiver, but I enjoyed the power and some of the other build quality enough that I bumped it up to 4.Good bow for a kid as long as you treat it as a bow.

Bought for an adult Halloween costume and was very surprised how well the arrows actually shoot. The arrows have rubber tips but you can easily shoot through a cardboard box with it.

As you can see from the pictures this bow and arrow set easily turned our7 year old son into a veritable Robin Hood. He loves it! The bow is pretty well made of wood and has just enough strength to shoot pretty hard without being dangerous. The arrows are rubber tipped but caution should still be used as this bow will shoot with enough velocity to break a window or hurt if they hit you. A couple of small demerits are that the quiver doesn't really have a good way to attach it to the shoulder and will turn upside down when the arrows are inside. I will rig up a strap later for it. Also the arrows have slight bends in them which of course makes them somewhat inaccurate. With that being said, this is a great toy and should be treated as a toy that requires adult supervision. The age group that this is intended for is probably not interested in shooting bulls eyes as much as hunting imaginary bears, lions, and tigers. I would definitely buy this again as it's well worth the selling price.
