Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM Lens (Sony E)

Amazing Lens, I bought this lens used through amazon resale. It was the best of a bargain but the product itself is able to capture stunning photos that will simply amazed your clients. If you are on the fence about this lens or the faster 1.2 GM lens I think it wouild depend on your use case but if Price is an issue definately just go for the F1.4 aperture. Its an amazing Lens

Awesome lens capable of great low light performance and capturing moving subjects.

I don’t know why I felt I needed a 1.4 GM. I’m barely qualified to operate a smartphone. But I relished the thought of a blurred background from optics vs ai.Reality is: it’s hard to keep things in focus at 1.4 unless you are a true pro. A 1.8 would be a lot less, weigh less, been a better deal.But this inspires me to try harder and that makes it all worth it.

I tried every lens I could, all brands of bodies, and all sensors. This is absolutely the fastest, smallest 1.4 50mm that will blow just about everything else out of the water.

Update: After testing the lens on my old Sony a7III camera, it works great. It turns out that the issue is with my new Sony a7IV camera, not the lens.(Sadly, this lens is malfunctioning. I filmed for two days across three different settings, and in each one, I had to refilm at least one scene because it failed to focus on me. This is strange, as I never had this issue with my previous Sony lens (a different version, the Sony 50mm 1.4 Zeiss).Unfortunately, I can't keep it—I want my money back!)

Fantastic image quality on Sony A7III and Sony A7R3. Quite fast, auto focus. Aperture ring works great and you can lock it if you don’t want to use it and control Aperture from camera body. Two custom buttons for easy access in portrait or landscape orientation can be programmed for many features. Manual or autofocus switch is also very convenient. You can rely on the 50mm focal length to provide a decent amount of compression and the F1.4 Aperture provides nice smooth bokeh with a shallow depth of field.
