Harry Potter Instrumental Solos (Movies 1-5): Clarinet, Book & Online Audio/Software (Pop Instrumental Solos Series)

Bought this for my tween who is learning to play clarinet.It is too advanced for her current level. It is probably more suited for a high school student. Another child could easily have been overwhelmed. Octave jumps, accidentals, time changes, and 1/8th notes abound.But, my tween is an eager learner. We took "Hedwig's theme" which is mostly quarter notes, and broke down about two lines last night, looking up fingerings, writing in the note names, and trying it. She was thrilled with the results of a recognizable tune that wasn't "jingle bells."The fingering guide in this book was different from those in her "learn to play" book, which was a little confusing, as well.The CD is great for learning the tune of the music, but way too fast a tempo for even an intermediate student to keep up.

I really enjoyed playing through these pieces! I will say they were slightly more difficult than I was expecting. It makes for a fun challenge.

I highly recommend this for all music lovers. The orchestra accompaniment alone is worth listening to. A wide variety of pieces to play, from the slower tempo numbers to the up-tempo ones. What a great book!

I bought this to encourage my son to keep practicing his clarinet. He had done pretty well with the school issued book but was losing enthusiasm. Having music to one of his favorite movies really rekindled his excitement. It is difficult for a beginner like him and I don't expect he'll master it for a good long while but he has fun and shows improvement.

I don't remember the description of this too well, but I got this for my daughter who is in her first year of playing clarinet. she does really well so to reward her i got her this book as she loves harry potter and I thought it would break the monotony of playing the same songs over and over. well this book is rather advanced and it says so on the corner of it when you receive it but i don't recall it actually saying in the description that it is for more advanced players. so hopefully she can use it in the future. for now she's not using it as it is overwhelming.

Christmas gift. My kid is a huger Harry Potter and John Williams fan. She has played the clarinet for six years and has no problem with the musical arrangement. It was a nice surprise stocking stuffer.

Nice book, wish it had more music for the price.

I know my scales and my major keys. I have no complaints. Only intermediate or professionals should play this. There only like 2 pieces that I would find easy for beginners. Same for Star Wars if you bought it from the same author.
