Uni Lead Holder Pencil, Holder, 2.0mm, No Sign (MH500NM)

The Mitsubishi Uni leads are one of the best on the market, and my personal favourite. Regardless of lead hardness they lay down a consistent line. What I mean is that a 2H is no fainter than a 2B - it is just lighter. (A 2H lead from other manufacturers is both lighter and fainter than their equivalent 2B lead). This means that you can draw a predictable and consistent shading across a picture using different leads, without variation but with a lovely tonal range. 2mm lead holders are a great way to draw - the lead is much less likely to break if you drop the pencil and the weight and balance of the holder help when drawing a lot. The big problem with the Mitsubishi Uni 2mm leads is that they have a "plug" on the end. This is a feature to prevent them dropping through when you advance them. This works well with the Mitsubishi holders but the leads don't fit other holders without removing the plugs. You can do this but invariably you end up breaking the lead, so the Mitsubishi holders are perfect.

The three best pencils on the market are Blackwing, Tombow Mono 100 and Mitsubishi Hi UNI. Only Mitsubishi make a 2mm lead and that lead only fits these holders. In terms of pencil performance that marks these holders out above any others. The drop through holders like these are superior to click-advance ones. The latter do not grip the lead firmly enough of consistent and smooth pointing. The pencil is nicely balanced with the metal front barrel and plastic rear.

Basic but well made automatic pencil. Bit to light for my liking but does the job.

Very nice dark lead, writes darker than the same grade in other 2mm lead but is still smoother and darker than other softer grades when using pressure. It's hard to fully explain but these leads are unique and high quality.

This my number one pencil. My general of generals. Great holder so far.

I love the pencil, it's amazing quality and I will probably buy more models. The delivery was very lengthy though, it took several months and the item was lost and re-sent once. Nevertheless, this was due to a typhoon in Japan, and the company apologised for the delay many times.

Dieser schöne Zeichenstift liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Diese 2B-Mine eignet sich für bestimmte Papiere sehr gut, da der Härtegrad HB mitunter zu hell ist.

Fantástico portaminas. Recomendado 100%. Después de unos meses he decidido comprar otro igual (aunque no es el 2B). Aunque hay otros productos similares en el mercado, creo que este tiene un equilibrio perfecto. Los materiales empleados en la fabricación y la terminación son muy buenos. Carece de afilaminas en el tapón.

Nice pencil

I used these leads in my Caran d'ACHE 2MM mechanical to sketch (After taking off the cap at the blunt end of the lead). It sharpens nicely and is strong while under slight pressure. Other leads break easily - but these are quite nice. It writes very smooth on paper and gives a lot of tones depending on how you use it - doesn't feather or smear as much, it's still a HB so it can only get so dark. But it makes an excellent on-the-go pencil lead for my pocket sketch book. I'd recommend giving it a try, it's certainly feels different from the ones you get form your office/art supply stores.
