Durability without sacrificing comfort
I've owned several pair of Salomon tactical boots, but this was my first pair of their running/trail shoes. I paid quite a bit of attention to other reviews before ordering a pair and spoke with friends that have worn them as well. The shoes did not disappoint. I have worn them for moderate hiking and predominately casual use and have found them to be lightweight, comfortable, breathable, and as sturdy as I would expect from a brand such as Salomon. The laces in particular are consistent with their tactical boots, thick and robust; not thin like the ones found on the Salomon Speedcross line. I'm very particular about the shoes I wear and not only do I expect comfort, but I also demand durability. I remain a satisfied and loyal Salomon customer.

I’m glad I found these shoes!
I got these for work. And im happy I did. It’s hard to find comfortable shoes that I can work in and look good in too. They are high quality and fit nicely.

Superior to Ultra 4.
I used a pair of Ultra 4 for a year on hikes ranging from 3 to 8 miles. The Ultra Pioneers are as good in most ways and better in one key feature. They have equal levels for traction and stability. If you are scaling rocks these are very sturdy with exceptional grip on sandy, dusty rock. Time will tell if they are as durable but it’s all the same material so it should be fine. Where they’re superior is the lacing. The Ultra 4 has an auto lacing system that I did not like. It was impossible to tightening differently from bottom to top and it constantly loosened on hikes. The Ultra Pioneers has standard laces which I find to be much easier to get the right fit. YMMV. Overall, great hiking shoes.

Very comfortable and great quality, doesn’t last long
I bought these as all purpose/everyday shoes rather than hiking only. I’ve had them for 7 months now and first impressions are that they are very stable and comfortable to walk in for at least 10-15 miles a day. They have more front support than most shoes I’ve worn which is nice. I walk an average of 30-40 miles each 5day week so am a little rough on them, also I’m ~200lbs. I love the feel of the fabric and the fact that they easily dry out within 24hrs of getting wet. At this point though much of the sole is worn out and there’s some stress tears on both shoes. I’d give them 5 stars but for $140 I’d have hoped they’d last longer given I’ve had cheaper shoes last 2 years before getting to the point these are at. Also the laces can be frustrating at times. They like to loosen up even when triple knotted. I’d still probably buy them again or recommend them, but not for anyone who plans to use them heavily.

From military boots to shoes
I have been wearing Salomon for years now. It started with wearing their boots with my military uniform. These are my second pair of their shoes and the last my almost 2 years per pair. They are true to fit, offer amazing traction, comfort and support.

light and stable
These are great trail hiking and running shoes. Very light yet stable. This is my second pair and I am especially glad that this new pair has regular laces instead of the speed laces which my last pair had. The last pair lasted about a year which is pretty good considering how hard I used them. The laces on the last pair were fraying and I think the regular laces will be better.

These are excellent for daily around town use with occasional off-trail wandering...
These are excellent for daily around town use with occasional off-trail wandering... They are rugged (as Soloman brand always is), comfortable, and have an excellent tread for wandering onto nearby hills...

Lightweight, great fit!
I used these for work in construction and maintenance. For hiking, biking and disc golf. They are light and very comfortable. I recently retired them from being work shoes to "play" shoes since the tread is mostly gone and they're starting to get some small rips in the mesh upper after about a year and a half of heavy use. Will definitely buy again!
