Works incredibly!
Craftsmanship is a little here and there, but over all I didn't end up needing to replace anything and it sounds great, a little hard to tune as someone who does it frequently, lots of little adjustments to the bridge, but otherwise great!

This really did require a bit of work on receipt.
It arrived as advertised, and was well packed for shipping. The bridge may eventually be a problem. As I was trying to tighten the strings, the low string kept slipping out of the groove. I eventually pulled out my pocket knife and deepened the groove. I may have to get a new bridge at some point. The tuning pegs slip very badly, even after applying peg drops. I may have to pull the strings off and pretty much start over with stringing. I have yet to draw a single note from it. Please keep in mind that I am an absolute beginner. As such, this is a little frustrating, but the price was where I could afford.Edit: It is now past the time when I would have been able to return this thing. It can't be tuned. The tuning pegs slip, and I've treated them all with peg drops multiple times. The bridge is most definitely a problem. It is not a nice, even curve with notches for the strings. It slopes towards the "C" string, and I had to take a knife to the notch to deepen it enough for the string to stay in place. As it's gotten closer to tune-able, it's gotten worse, Yesterday, while once again working with it, the bridge collapsed on me twice. I don't want an expensive and large item just for decoration in my home. I'm thinking if I wanted to keep it, at this point I would need to take it to a lutier, which will cost more money. I considered giving it to a local middle school, but that would be kind of cruel to start a youngster on an instrument with issues.

Very impressive Cello for the price
I think this cello has fantastic tone, as others have said. Very beautiful sound. Also, very beautiful fit and finish. A great alternative to expensive rentals for students. I didn't mind it is basswood, I know that is a recognized "tonewood" in the guitar world, and the sound confirms it. A novice at cello, but the playability seemed fine to me, strings at right heights, etc. Importantly, it holds its tune well. One thing to consider, I'm fairly certain it is made in a laminate style - though still "solid" wood. That does not bother me as the sound is hauntingly beautiful and I have read laminates can be stronger, more resistant to cracking. Plus, it helps provide the low price. Setup was fairly easy and everything worked great. The only thing I'd like to improve would be the fine tuners someday, but, they work fine and do their job. I would definitely recommend this fine instrument for the price! In fact, I liked it so much I bought their other full ebony version, which is also fantastic. Great job Ktaxon!

Disappointing Purchase
I purchased the Ktaxon Full-Size Beginner Cello 4/4 Acoustic Cello Set with Portable Bag, Bow, and Rosin on January 1, 2024, with high hopes of starting my cello journey. However, my experience with this product has been nothing short of disappointing. The most glaring issue with this cello is its inability to hold tuning. No matter how carefully I tune it or how many adjustments I make, it loses its tuning within minutes of playing. This constant need for retuning makes practicing an exercise in frustration rather than an enjoyable experience. To alleviate the problem, I even purchased additional tuning accessories, but to no avail. The cello continues to exhibit the same persistent tuning issues, rendering it practically unusable for any serious practice or performance.Furthermore, the overall quality of the instrument leaves much to be desired. The construction feels flimsy, and the sound produced is lackluster at best. It's clear that corners were cut in the manufacturing process, resulting in a subpar instrument that fails to meet even the most basic expectations.Overall, I cannot recommend the Ktaxon Full-Size Beginner Cello to anyone looking to start their cello journey. The constant tuning issues and poor quality make it a frustrating and ultimately disappointing investment. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a reliable instrument.

Sound gets better with time and some investment
I have ordered a few, One came with a stain in the neck, other had a problem with holding the A string and and broke two in a month, is very easy to set up, easier to play for beginners than cremona and Cecilio, put some new string, they start with toysh sound but they just kept improving over this months as owners practice more and more. Is al you need to begin, they look prettier in person with very thin varnish and weight a little less, you need to set your Bridge with a a luthier always tho, very nice cello overall.

Priceless joy
Five stars because I know what I paid for. I bought other strings, another bow and for the love of God better rosin! But I knew what I was paying for. Even the flaw on the body brings me joy! OkayYyy just throw the rosin away but have some back up.

Not Playable
I’m a beginner cellist but not new to string instruments. Overall, this cello is not worth the trouble and I will be returning it. You get what you pay for, but I at least expected it to be playable. I assessed the cello myself and also got a professional opinion to confirm my suspicions. My largest concerns are that the pegs shift constantly and the strings the cello come with are very poor quality. Because of the constant shifting of the pegs, I can never be in-tune no matter how much time I spend adjusting them. I had to replace the strings with higher quality ones. Also, the notches on the bridge that set the strings weren’t wide enough, so my C string kept snapping off the bridge and fingerboard. This happened with both the original strings and the higher quality ones I replaced them with. My final but less critical issue was that the strings are not able to be centered on the fingerboard. I see this a lot with student instruments, so it’s not a huge deal, but on top of all the other issues it goes without saying that you should probably just spend a little more money buying or renting a better quality cello elsewhere. The only praise I have is that it didn’t arrive with any obvious cracks and the color is nice.
