Brilliant Lightweight Tent for Solo Wild Camping - XL Version is a Must for Taller Folks!
I've just taken the Highlander Blackthorn 1 XL on a few wild camping trips in the Lake District, and for the price, this tent is an absolute bargain. The weight-to-value ratio is its biggest strength. It's light enough to carry without complaint but still feels robust enough to handle a bit of weather. It packs down small and is quick and easy to pitch, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to get set up before dark. As for space, I'm 6 foot tall, and I opted for the XL version. It's a "just about" fit, but I can lie down fully, which is the main thing. The real surprise was the internal space. I could comfortably fit my 90L rucksack inside the tent with me—not just in a porch—which is a massive win for keeping my gear dry and secure overnight. If you're a solo wild camper looking for a lightweight, budget-friendly shelter that can actually fit a taller person and their gear, the Blackthorn 1 XL is a fantastic choice.

Great tent for solo wildcamping in good conditions.
positives: lightweight, easy to assemble, good quality, cheap negatives: Small, hardly any porch, two layers that can't really be connected when folded up as you need to fit the poles into the inner layer. So not suitable for wet and windy conditions as the inner will get soaking wet before you have a chance to out on the outer layer. As a cheap, lightweight tent for overnight solo camping in good weather conditions, its perfectly acceptable. Just make sure you buy a bed pad that fits as space inside is very limited.

Pretty good!
I see what people mean about the tent poles breaking, they do feel very fragile, but as long as you don’t use undue force they work just fine, only used it once so far though so we shall see. The inside is very tight, I’m a slender 6’2” inch man and it’s very cozy but if you are claustrophobic you might not like this, it’s a bit miserable to use in the rain because there is no room to sit down and take your boots off unless you are very flexible like me, you are either in this tent, getting out, or outside of the tent, there isn’t much headroom to sit in this. I wish the door flap could be held open somehow, I’m going to add a magnet to try and keep it open.

Took it out to dartmoor for 3 nights in march
I took it hiking in Dartmoor for 3 night in pretty rough weather. Set up was super simple. Tent is light and small. Poles look to be a bit weak - but held in 70km gusts. It was raining hard each night and totally dry inside. Size wise - I am 6ft4 and inside was large enough for me to be comfy and keep important supplies close. Its quite low and I couldn't sit comfortably in the door way. For the price its a good tent, Only thing holding it back is the poles, they made me worry a bit in the high wind.

Tent for hobbits AVOID!!!!
This tent is an absolute disgrace. I’m in it right now for the first night of the West Highland Way and it’s so small that I can’t fit my roll matt in and my feet are getting cold and wet because they’re touching the end. I’m not even 6 foot tall. Thanks a lot Highlander now I have to deal with sleeping on the hard ground getting wet feet for 5 nights. Thanks for ruining my hard earned trip. AVOID like the plague unless you’re a bloody hobbit.

Pretty good compact tent for solo camping
I really love this tent! It's super compact and lightweight so I can carry it easily in my backpack. It's very easy to set up and has sustained quite a lot of rain, with maybe one or two raindrops dripping on me during the night. It is very small though so you won't be sitting inside, but that's just what I was looking for.

Tested in Extreme conditions
I am just back home from 9 days in the west highland way, this tent was used in the wettest week in scotland so far this year, in the most remote parts of the land, 340m up in the great glen pass through to glen nevis in gale force winds. The tent held up the whole journey with only 4 drops of condensation.. for £79 for the XL size (me being 6’5) i cannot recommend this anymore! Its so easy to assemble even with a swarm of midges eating you, you can take it down in minutes in the pouring rain, its a 1 person tent so for size, it is what it is, it fit me and my bag of stuff! Great value and couldnt fault it! Recommend!

Artikel kam sehr schnell an.
