One of my most entertaining games purchases to date
This review is for Plan B Games - 'Century: Spice Road' - Board GameIt took me a while to catch on to what this game is about, but that's probably just me. It appeals to just about everyone who is introduced to it, and the challenge (for me at least) is to do better next time.It plays very quickly - before you know it, it's your turn again, and it's a real 'plate-spinner' of a game - trying to balance what you need to do to advance your strategy against what you can do at this very moment to stop another player beating you to a merchant card or acquisition purchase - very involving. And you find out who has won (highest value purchases plus coins) right at the end, so the game-play itself is the thing. The artwork and component quality are excellent, but the 'theme' is hardly relevant to the game itself: what matters is the cards in your hand that enable you to trade up to and acquire the differently coloured game cubes (=spices??) on your 'market' card to be able to buy your next acquisition card and the victory points on it. Highly recommended.

Awesome game
One of the best games I own. Excellent entry point for those who want to try board games

Great game, very entertaining.
Bought this game for Christmas expecting a “board” and there is no board, which threw me initially and I wondered if it would be as good as I expected it to be. I set it up as per the clear instructions in the box. Then started to play. The instructions were clear but didn’t explain what we did with the cards and how we progressed, so we initially found it a little confusing. A few quick you tube tutorials and we were up and running. Once we realised what we were supposed to do, we really enjoyed it, it was great fun, very entertaining and got quite competitive. I can see this game has lots of variables which should keep it interesting for a long time. Already looking forward to playing it again. PS we never missed the fact that there wasn’t a board! 😀.

Great game
The quality of this game is very high. Actual metal coins, wooden blocks and good thick cards. Artwork is of a high standard to though perhaps is a bit samey. The game itself seems well balanced and whilst originally looked quite complex, once you got into playing it was very straightforward.I bought this as it seemed similar to Splendour which we all enjoy. Whilst it is similar to some extent it's definitely different enough as well.Lots of potential strategy and a clear scoring/win criteria meant the whole family enjoyed it.Definitely will get played again.

Great game
Initially a bit unsure, but after a you tube tutorial we were up and running. The rules are actually quite simple, it's the choices and strategies you choose that make it compulsive. Each game doesn't take long, so many games played in an evening.Really pleased we bought this, not a game that is going to get lost at the back of the cupboard.

Enjoyable game
Bought this as we already owned Splendor, a similar game which is one of our favourites. This is an equally good game, maybe a little more complex. The coins are fantastic quality, the whole game is very well constructed.Takes about 20 to 40 minutes to play with 2 people, longer with more people.

Fun family game!
Good quality. Wooden blocks, strong plastic cups, metal coins. Good cards & strong playing boards. Limited to 5 players max. Good game play. Suitable for all the family, but some strategy required, so younger children may not be able to play. Perfect addition to our ‘games night’!

Fantastic entry-level Engine Builder
Of all of the engine-building games I have played, this is still one I return to frequently. It is simple, and so it is great for beginners, while still having tactical and strategic depth enough for those used to heavier board games to still enjoy.Splendour is a similar game, but not nearly as good/interesting, in my opinion. Definitely a great addition to someone's collection.
