Spear & Jackson 4516AZ Southern Counties Bill Hook, Wood

Exactly what I was looking for. Good, solid blade, good weight. No rust or bad workmanship at all. Needs some sharpening to get the edge how I'd like it, but I expected far worse. I'll be using it to take smaller branches off felled wood, which I think it will comfortably manage without sharpening tbh. Very pleased, money well spent.

nicely balanced and weighted does need a good sharpen before use to get the best out of the tool but not at all unusual for this type of tool. I like it and find it good value for money

Bought this to replace my old faithful one that i've had for 35yrs and it broke !First look out the box and its good.Had to resharpen it to get rid of the grinder sharpened factory edge and do it with a file and stone .Now you can shave with it ! Real quality metal,as expected from Spear & Jackson,that holds its edge while working. Perfect balance and weight and lays hedge to perfection. A joy to use.Wasn't looking forwards to getting a new one as they never feel the same but pleasntly suprised how well it fits my hand and replaces my old one . IDEAL

Awesome traditional tool. Very very very dangerous in the wrong hands. Find the you tube videos on how to sharpen and use. It comes with a basic edge, it's not sharp and needs a honed edge adding and maintaining to cut properly and safely.

as with most spear and Jackson product,s quality is assured ,however the bill hook is maybe too well made very difficult to sharpen and slightly on the heavy side.

Just had to sharpen it up it seams like good steal.

I bought this wonderful knife to make kindling. I find the weight perfect to smash through logs and other off cuts of wood to make kindling. The knife is not razor sharp which is good otherwise I would be missing a few didgets by now. 😅

Used this hook for on some kindling and a bit of scrub clearing. After 10 minutes the hook had worked loose from the handle. Tried refitting it with a mallet but same thing happened again. Had my last hook for over 50 years. Come on Spear & Jackson, you can do better.
