Travel router
I recently had the pleasure of using the GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) Small Portable Wifi 6 Router, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. This compact device is a powerhouse when it comes to delivering high-speed, reliable internet connectivity on the go. First and foremost, the Wifi 6 technology is a game-changer. It offers faster speeds and greater capacity, making it perfect for streaming, gaming, and handling multiple devices simultaneously without a hitch. I noticed a significant improvement in the performance and range compared to my previous portable routers. Setting up the GL-MT3000 was a breeze. The user-friendly interface and clear instructions made the process quick and painless. Within minutes, I had a secure and stable internet connection. The router’s compact size is another major advantage, fitting easily into my bag and making it an ideal travel companion. What sets the Beryl AX apart is its impressive feature set. It includes robust security options, such as VPN support and advanced encryption, ensuring that my data remains safe and private no matter where I am. The ability to switch between different modes, like router, repeater, and access point, adds to its versatility. In conclusion, the GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) Small Portable Wifi 6 Router is a must-have for anyone in need of a reliable, high-performance portable router. Its combination of speed, security, and ease of use makes it an excellent investment. Highly recommended!

best all rounder, customisable and rock-stable router out there
I bought this to extend the range of my ISP-supplied modem/wireless router, and to act as a wired repeater for one of my ethernet-only devices. Oh my, I did not anticipate falling in love! This is what a router should be. Compact, good price, and open firmware! It is easy to configure, although I did run into some hurdles with trying to connect it to my main router wirelessly - luckily with the combination of log files and ChatGPT I was able to figure out what the issue was! So far it is rock-stable, and easy to configure otherwise, whether you need it for VPN, TOR, or any other solution you can cook up! This satisfies my dream of a device being well-supported, easily and fully customizable, high quality and being stable, without needing to go down into the weeds too much, but actually letting you to do that if you're so inclined. The small size makes this an especially good contender for portability, as if I needed it on the go, I could easily chuck this in my backpack or even pocket it!

A Must-Have Portable Router for Travel and Home
The Beryl AX has been a game-changer for my internet setup. Whether I’m at home or on the go, this portable Wi-Fi 6 router delivers reliable, blazing-fast internet speeds of up to 3000 Mbps. The dual-band connectivity ensures a strong and stable signal, even with multiple devices connected. Setup was a breeze, and I love the added features like VPN cascading and AdGuard Home for enhanced privacy and ad-blocking. The inclusion of WPA3 security and IPv6 support adds peace of mind, making it future-proof. The 2.5Gbps WAN port is a fantastic bonus, allowing me to maximize high-speed connections where available. What really stands out is its compact size—it’s perfect for travel, but powerful enough to use at home. This router is ideal for streaming, working remotely, or just staying securely connected anywhere. I’m super impressed and highly recommend the Beryl AX to anyone looking for a portable yet robust Wi-Fi solution!

Can be complicated but does perform very well
I needed network access to my portable hard drive as my EE router no longer has this feature. This works very well but the setup isn't intuitive. As this is a router with all sorts of network uses, if you are network savvy then this would be no problem to setup I assume. It really needs a guided setup but there are lots of online resources to help and with a bit of trial and error I got it working in about half an hour for my specific needs. The range of this little guy is very impressive. I can pick it up anywhere in my home and get a very fast connection. It's stable and reliable so far. The build quality is very good and solid. It's compact and has a decent amount of port connections, including the all important USB 3 port that I needed to for network storage. If you are tech savvy then this is a great little mini router and reasonably priced too.

GL.iNet GL-MT3000 WiFI router ======================= This was a close call between the GL-MT3000 and GL-AXT1800. Both are very similar but the other is an older model, boasts 3 LAN ports, slower RAM and cache but supports more clients. In the end I opted for this newer model which also runs OpenVPN faster than the older model (although the older model runs WireGuard much faster). Setting up the hub was easy, but I kept hitting odd problems - after setting up either via LAN or off the home WiFi (for testing) the connected devices worked perfectly but navigating to the hub's admin portal it would say no internet access, as well as the flashing blue led on its front case. But whilst saying that, all devices I connected straight to the WiFi hub, the internet access works just fine(!) it just reports no internet access every now and again within the hubs admin portal. It may possibly be down to my home TPLink network switch which is load balanced over ADSL and Cable. Nord vpn *doesnt* provide WireGuard config for routers, however the Nord Windows client (trying the VPN directly on a single pc on the lan), does use WireGuard within its program. In the Windows Nord VPN client you can specify the country but not between Open VPN/WireGuard, but I noticed it installs drivers for NordLynx which it uses for WireGuard. On the WiFI router WireGuard is only directly supported on the hub for a Service provider called AzireVPN, although you can manually add a Wireguard config file for any other providers. I have since added Nord Open VPN to the hub since Nord does provide an open von config file for routers. You cant switch easily between different countries on the router, but what you can do is download the config selecting different countries having logged into Nord on a browser and just applying the different config file when you want to switch countries on the hubs admin portal. Not great, but it's much better to have a single router with a vpn connection than to have to add vpn clients on every client connecting to the router. The router also supports Nord open vpn directly, so don't need to download any config files - you enter the Nord username and password keys to directly access Nord within the admin portal, and can directly search/switch to a different country. Overall a great little hub. Because I have already connected most of our portable home devices to the router already, it's just a matter of setting up the hub with the new source when traveling - it's great having our devices not have to add a new connection to a new Wifi every time we go somewhere new. Also the devices recognise the faster router informing me of a faster connection to a WiFi 6 hotspot when connecting. I have yet to test this on an external Wifi hotspot where some hotels or hotspots need to register or login before internet access is granted, but so far Wifi and LAN tethering works well. At home, I'm still testing this WiFi router and it is left on 24/7 tethering onto our home WiFi and it gets a little warm, but no problem concurrently streaming to different clients that are connected to it. It doesn't come with a case, but at such a small size, I expect it shouldn't be too hard to find a small generic camera case for it. Currently selling for 101.90

Maybe the best travel router
Super hand travel router. If you do a lot of travelling it can make connecting multiple devices to the WiFi super easy. You can connect this router to a network and the connect your devices to the router. It has strong wireless connections for a decent size. Good value. Some powerful pro-Sumer tools too. I wouldn’t recommend this for a home setup, there are better options for that but anyone looking for a travel router this is the one

Perfect for Traveling and Ensuring Secure, Fast Wi-Fi on the Go!
I recently took this travel router on a trip, and it truly impressed me. Setting it up was a breeze, especially with the ability to configure it to match my home network’s name, making the connection process seamless wherever I went. The dual-band speeds were great and I never had any issues with connectivity, even in hotel rooms or on public Wi-Fi. One standout feature is the VPN support. I’ve been using WireGuard for some time, and setting it up on this router was incredibly simple. I was able to keep my internet traffic secure without sacrificing speed. One feature I love is the configurable switch on the side that allows me to toggle the VPN on and off with just a quick flick. It’s incredibly convenient when I want to switch between secure browsing and regular internet use. Security is another strong point the ability to block non-VPN traffic. Plus, the open-source firmware lets me customize settings to my exact needs, which I still haven't used but love to know it's there. All in all, this router is incredibly versatile, easy to set up, and perfect for anyone needing fast, secure internet on the go. Whether you’re traveling or working from different locations, this router offers peace of mind and performance. Highly recommended!

Completely Unreliable – Ruined My Recent Trip
I had high hopes for the GL.iNet Beryl AX, but it turned out to be a huge letdown—especially when I needed it most. During a recent trip, it constantly threw the error: “Please check the network environment or reboot the device.” This wasn’t just a one-off; it happened repeatedly and made it nearly impossible to get a stable connection. I tried everything: Factory reset Upgraded and downgraded firmware Swapped multiple power cables Tried different wall sockets and power banks Nothing helped. On top of that, the device would randomly crash and reboot, sometimes without warning. This router was meant to be a reliable travel companion, but instead, it caused more stress than it solved. It completely ruined my ability to work and stay connected while away. When it does work, performance is fine—but reliability is a dealbreaker. Until there's a proper fix, I can’t recommend the Beryl AX for anyone who needs dependable connectivity, especially while traveling.
