Bates Men's Tactical Sport 2 Tall Zip Military and Tactical Boot

Great boots for hunting, hiking, and work. Lightweight, comfortable and good support. My first pair lasted 1.5 years, used for ranching, utilities work and hunting almost daily. The zipper makes them easy to put on/take off going in and out of house or truck. Will post pic, they look rough but they were abused and $100 boots with 1 year manufacturer warranty. Hard to beat. The zipper broke which is why I bought new pair.

I've been wearing Bates boots for the last 25 years. My job causes me to spend long hot days standing on concrete. They have always been the best combination of durability and comfort for me. The last pair I got fell apart over the course of a couple months. The bottom of the shoe literally separated and fell off. Figured I may have just gotten a bad pair. Bought another pair, it lasted me a month and the zipper on the side broke. Don't know what's going on, but the quality is certainly gone. Guess I have to find new boots after all these years.

One of the best boots you can buy for the price. The zipper makes it easy to put them on and take them off. Takes a bit to break them in but once you do that they are good for a long time.

I've always worn Bates boots at work and was trying, unsuccessfully, to locate a pair of the Ultralites to replace my old ones. The Tactical Sport 2 boots looked similar to my Ultralites so I figured I would take a chance on them. So glad I did -- they arrived quickly and fit great. It didn't take me long to break them in and they have been so comfortable. I know it's a little early to be able to comment on their durability, but I am very optimistic that they will last me a while. TLDR: Bates Tactical Sport 2 boots are a great successor to the Bates Ultralites line of tactical boots.

Compared to the previous model, the toe box feels a bit stiffer. At first, I felt some pressure on my toes, but after a few days of breaking them in, the discomfort completely disappeared. The outsole also seems to have been upgraded — the material feels slightly firmer, and the larger contact area provides excellent traction. Walking stability has clearly improved on both paved and unpaved surfaces. There appears to be some variation in stitching quality depending on the pair, but the one I received was perfectly made. No crooked seams or loose threads — I’d say I got a good one. Cushioning is on the firm side, but since the sole is designed a bit deeper, it’s easy to fine-tune with aftermarket insoles. I personally use a slightly firm Sorbo-type insole, which gave me my preferred level of comfort. Overall, this new model feels more solidly built and gives a stronger sense of stability compared to the old version. The cost performance is excellent, and I’m very satisfied with it. Once I wear these out, I’ll definitely buy the same model again.

A little disappointed with the faulty bootlace however the overall construction of the boot is well made. The leather is soft enough to be used immediately. Mainly using this for urban environments. It is also lighter than the Magnum Spartan Jungle XTB. Will be monitoring its wear after 6 months of use.

First and foremost - these fit accurate to your normal shoe or boot size..don't size up like Amazon recommends. Super comfortable boots. Wore them for 3 back to back 12 hour shifts with 12k plus steps on each and my feet felt great after. Very light compared to the original SWATS I wore previously. Nice amount of shine on the toe caps out of the box. Zipper is solid and easy to glide. I'll likely swap the laces out at some point for something a bit heavier but otherwise 10/10 boots in my books.
