Excellent service
Fast delivery. Good service.Good book for identification of medieval pot. Nice clear pictures and good line drawings. It would have been nice to have some pictures of sherd edges to see the fabric composition.

An excellent guide
Book is lacking the Glossary & Appendix in the Contents List at the front. But this is not a faulty copy as I have seen another one purchased elsewhere that is the same. Otherwise the book is an excellent guide to pottery in Britain especially for the amateur archaeologist. It is well illustrated with colour photographs and line drawings. I would recommend it.

Great book. Very Helpful.
I love this book. As a detectorist I come across a lot of sherds on the fields and this helps in identification of them. I would have liked more photos though.

Of practical value??
Having spent the past 9 weeks washing & processing finds from our latest dig, the book was interesting, if not totally helpful. It helped to give an overall view of development. However, will not replace being hands on in this job.

Essential book of pottery identification
Unless you're an expert, identifying pottery finds in archaeology can be very difficult indeed, once you get beyond four or five basic types. I bought this book because I was having trouble identifying some finds without expert help, and I must say it's been useful. There is no internet resource that has enough information and pictures to enable proper identification, and no currently published book has enough information. The book is well-written, excellently photographed, and fits my needs perfectly.I do not know whether professional archaeologists would need such a book, but it is very good for amateurs and local historical societies who need to know why that piece of pottery found in the churchyard is glazed only on one side, or where that shard with the green glaze can have originate.
