Go Isotonic Energy Gel with Caffeine, Double Espresso, 60ml (6 Packs)

As long as you really like coffee this is the one for you. It will give you that little boost mid ride,you do need to wash it down with a little water as like most gels it sticks in your mouth.

The flavour is like a poor quality cold brew coffee, but the effectiveness with the caffeine was worth it. Helped me to stay alert without feeling wired, and no side affects such as racing heart beat.

I have used these gels during a long ( 4 k ) swimming session. Here is what I make of them. POUCH the pouch is strong, holds its shape and it is easy to handle. It tears in one go providing a good opening to get all the gel out in once go. I tried to get any more gel out the second time round and there was nothing left. TASTE It is a bit acidic and strong at first but it has a nice sweet aftertaste, it did not linger long. I washed it down with a bit of water. GEL I feel this was absorbed quickly and it provides 87kcal per gel with 22 carbohydrates. 0 fat, 0 protein. SIS claims that is very quick to absorb and I agree with that. CAFFEINE I must confess that I do not usually drink tea or coffee, so I am new to caffeine. The average cup of coffee has around 95 mg of caffeine, this gel contains 150 gr. For me it had two effects. One it gave an energy boost towards the end of my swim set, it also helped to ease off some muscular pains towards the end of the set. The other was a very strong stimulation of my bladder. My last set was 10 lots of 100 meters and I noticed that I was getting faster and faster, due to a strong desire to finish and visit the toilet. This unwanted effect lasted several hours.

I’m not a coffee lover, but I was recommended these for my workouts. I used to feel nauseous after exercising, but after taking one of these, I felt energized enough to do the whole workout again! They’re great for recovery. I wouldn’t recommend using them outside of exercise or physical exertion, though.
