Saved my MBP
My 2010 MBP was dying and disk tools showed SMART status failing on old drive. Checked out the specs and the helpful installation video and ordered this SSD from OWC, plus doubled my storage from 500GB to 1TB and for a really great price. I received the drive promptly and within an hour of delivery had it installed and ready for the Time Machine transfer back of all my files and apps. The actual installation into the MBP was a snap and took no time at all, just follow the instructions, use static precautions and the right tools for the job. My MBP is back up and running happily now, and the new drive is faster and lots of storage to expand into. Saved me from buying a new MBP for a few years I reckon.

A DECENT SSD, MAY NOT BE AS FAST AS THEY SAY BUT IT'S GOOD
This drive is priced right and works ok but it is not nearly as fast as my SanDisk SSD. I load these in to Atomos hard drive housings and use them to record video.I used the Blackmagic Design drive benchmark utility to test this drive and others. The SanDisk consistently turns in about 350MB read write performance while the OWC drives manage 250MB read write performance.Even though it's not as fast as the SanDisk (which was backordered for weeks when I tried to order it) the OWC is much faster than any of my rotating hard disks, they barely manage 80MB read write on the identical benchmark and they're fast 7200 rpm drives.I use these SSD on my DAW running Logic, it's a Mac Pro Cylinder computer. I copied 12GB of data from one SSD to another in under a minute, nice. When I have a lot of recording sessions, I need to back up fast. I can backup a clients work very quickly with these.Happy computing to all!

Great for PPC macs
I recently bought an old dual processor G5 as a nostalgia machine. Something to run the classic environment smoothly. This SSD installed easily and I was able to load OS 10.4 onto it. It boots almost instantaneously now. I had tried a different SSD prior and the machine wouldn’t boot from it. This one works great!

Quality, in both product and support!
This SSD change out turned my mid 2009 MacBook Pro into a fast, speedy and viable computer. Just a note- I purchased only the drive. If I were to do it, again, I would spend the extra $10 for the external case and cable, to aid in the migration between the old and new drives, as not having them hindered my progress. But, the customer service at OWC is superb. Working first through the phone, and then email, Chris E. walked me through my challenges. I am extremely pleased with this new drive, but even more so with the support.
