I nearly didn't buy this for my 5 year old after some reviews saying it was too young for their 3 and 4 year olds. At 3, my daughter wasn't interested in snakes and ladders and after disinterest, several failed attempts and boxes often being emptied randomly, I sent all ours to the charity shop. Now she is a bit older and really been enjoying other Orchard Toys games and puzzles for a while, I realised we needed a classic snakes and ladders game back in our collection. The box guide of 4-7 I think is accurate for most children.I was torn between this being from a brand I trust and a more traditional version, but the puzzle board was the winning aspect in the end, for added fun and storage purposes. My daughters year 1 teacher recommended puzzles with 100 squares in to help with maths but the shorter game appealed to me, knowing my daughter struggles with concentration, (and likewise that it would be an endurance for me) and I'm really glad we got this one because we've managed to play it before school a lot of mornings, and believe me, time is at a premium in the mornings in our house. The 50 square board takes just under 10 minutes to play for us. Probably less with calmer children who don't get over excited with the die and have to do victory circuits round the room for scoring ladders.Negatives-the box is much less sturdy than our other Orchard Toys boxes, even the smaller things we have. My toddler savaged it within 5 minutes of us receiving it. This isn't a problem at all for us, because I prefer to keep all puzzles and games in popper wallets to take up less space, but worth mentioning since some customers might buy it for travel. The die is pretty small, but we have our own chunky one we use with it.

My son is autistic and I needed some new games to try out with him to help with his concentration and to stimulate him when he is feeling agitated. This done the job so well, he thoroughly enjoys this game and it's pretty straightforward too. This item is small but does what it sets out to do and we play it many times over before he wants a change. I would definitely recommend this game for all ages, even I enjoy playing it!

Looks fantastic, this was purchased along with 2 other orchard toys games. My daughter who is 7 was recently invited to 3 consecutive birthday parties and therefore these were given as gifts. All three of the other children turned 6 and therefore I thought these to be age appropriate.My daughter has her own sets of orchards toys games and I find them brilliant. They are educational and also encourages children to play in pairs or groups (with siblings/parents) but they can be played alone as well, well made games that are fun yet mostly simple.The boxes are the same size as a packet of Haribo starmix which we also included in the presents. At £4.99 each they make wonderful gifts for young children without feeling like you've splashed out.All three children have thanked my daughter for them so I can only take that they were well received.

I bought this as a first game for my daughter who is almost 2. She loves it. The cards are really sturdy and wipe clean and have stood up to a toddler's use. At the moment we don't really play it as a game, I just ask my daughter to find all the lions (for example). Working really well and am very glad I purchased. Have gone on to purchase more

Bought 3 of these, as Birthday presents for three year olds. A beautiful, simple game which allows you to have some focused quality time with little ones, exactly what you need for a bit of calm amongst the chaos! The kids love the game and putting the animals on the bus! Educational, beautiful and fun, at such s reasonable price. I would highly recommend buying this as a gift for little ones. Definitely perfect from 3 years old, but still enjoyable as an adult! Thank you!

*EDIT* Have just bought a second set for our niece for her third birthday and disappointed Ihow the box looks like it has been opened already and is a bit bashed about. Not the best when bought for a gift.Lovely quick game. This is good for little ones with short attention span as well as for traveling. Very easy to learn how to play. Nice sturdy good quality pieces. Good value for money.
