A must for anyone who wants to communicate without any conflict
"Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson delves into the world of human personality types using his DISA model. The book categorizes individuals into four main types: Dominant, Influential, Steady, and Conscientious. Each type is characterized by distinct behaviors, communication styles, and motivations. Understanding these personality types can help individuals navigate social interactions more effectively by tailoring their communication strategies to suit the preferences of others. By recognizing and adapting to the communication styles of those around us, we can improve relationships, enhance teamwork, and minimize misunderstandings. The DISA model offers practical insights for personal and professional growth, enabling readers to decode the behaviors of others and communicate more successfully.

Valuable book for those who are seeking to improve their interpersonal skills
Colloquially speaking those who agree with us are viewed as intelligent & those who not as "Idiots" (Not necessarily low IQ morons but people with different line of thinking). Book provides a practical framework to improve interaction with people who are different & does not go along well. Using DISC model, which categories behaviour into 4 personality types & by adapting to these types one can create harmonious & conducive environment to foster relationship.

Overrated
For me it was just okyish I was curious to know my type and it turned out to be blue as per this book. It was exciting to read about blue personality and yes everything it says is 100%correct for me.But I didn't find it exciting to read about other personality types🥲. I wonder if the title of this book was justified .

Sorrounded by Idiots observation & Review
The author has introduced a model called DISA. To simplify his concept he has divided the core human behaviour into 4 Colors Red, Yellow, Green & Blue. Reds are more aggressive, dominating and fast. Yellows are more charming, talkative, social and interested in making relationships. Greens are more security conscious and caring while Blues are more detail oriented, perfectionist therefore slow. The author says that people behaviour totally change under the influence of Alcohol. This is something which we already know.According to author only 5% people have 1 Color, 80% people have 2 colors and rest 15% people have 3 colors but no one has all four colors.Author talks about the temperament of the different behaviours. Reds have shot temper. It is like shot glass which fills very fast and often but causes less damage. Yellows temperament is like a normal water glass but Green temperament is like a barrel of water which takes time to fill but if you allow it explode it will cause severe damage. On the other hand Blues temperament is also like a barrel but with a tap in its bottom which releases the water time to time therefore cause less damage. The author provides the solution to deal with different types of people. He says the best way to deal with different types of people is to adopt their behaviour. Continuous learning, self awareness and the ability to change ourselves is the key. Some of the things which I don't like are :Same message is repeated in this book several times in different chapters. The author didn't explain that how person's behaviour may change at different stages of his/ her life. For example a person who is Red or Yellow in his twenties may become Blue when he is in his fifties because of his experience and knowledge.Another example is person may become Red or Yellow when payment of an expensive item is done by his Employer/Company but the same person will change Blue or Green when he has to pay the price from his own pocket (will make lot of research and bargain).Further this book doesn't talk about criminal behaviour, their root cause and how to deal with them.Overall this is a good book and worth reading.

"Surrounded by Idiots" – A Guide to Understanding and Appreciating Our Differences
"Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson is a refreshing take on personality types and communication. Far from labeling people as difficult or 'idiots,' the book presents a fascinating framework using four colors (Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue) to describe a range of personality traits. This color-coded system is more than just a tool for categorization—it's a bridge to better understanding the diverse ways people perceive and interact with the world.Erikson’s approach encourages us to see beyond superficial misunderstandings and recognize that each personality type has its unique strengths and weaknesses. By doing so, we learn to appreciate that differences in behavior and communication are not signs of incompetence or foolishness but are reflections of diverse perspectives and experiences. What makes "Surrounded by Idiots" particularly valuable is its practical application. The book offers clear, actionable advice on how to adapt our communication strategies according to different personality types. This not only enhances personal relationships but also improves workplace dynamics. Understanding that no one is an 'idiot,' but rather that we all experience the world differently, is pivotal in fostering a more inclusive and productive environment.Erikson's writing is accessible and engaging, making complex psychological concepts easy to grasp. He empowers readers to transform their interpersonal challenges into opportunities for growth and collaboration. This book is a must-read for anyone looking to improve their communication skills, enhance their emotional intelligence, and better navigate the colorful spectrum of human personalities.
