FIrst let me begin by saying I love this desk
FIrst let me begin by saying I love this desk. I'm actually using it right now. I have my lamp, my laptop, my tv remote, two pencil holders, a tissue box, a drink, my phone, and three electronics remote on this desk while I type this, and I can still push my laptop back and pull out a full size notebook and write in that, too, without moving anything. At the same time, my bedroom is 10x12 and the desk is small enough to fit neatly and out of the way. I love this desk. That said, the instructions ARE, in fact, fairly bad, but if you've had experience with the alphabet and enough common sense, they're not difficult. Every page has a picture and before beginning I suggest studying those pictures, so that it makes sense while assembling.Whoever said there wasn't enough glue, either they were piling it on, or they've changed the glue amount since that review was placed, because I had a bit left over, and that was with a few messups where I had to undo a glued area and reapply and put it somewhere else (which is what will happen if you don't examine the photos thoroughly before attempting assembly).Assembling this desk is, in a perfect world, a two person job. There's a lot of, "Hold this steady while I..." and "Crap I left G over there but I'm holding this, please pass it to me..." kind of thing going on, and some of the pieces are fairly heavy. I finished half off the assembly by myself in about 45 minutes (the beginning is easy, but monotonous) and then a friend stopped by and inserted himself into helping me, which turned out a godsend, because fitting all the pieces together was the tough part. Again, STUDY THE PICTURES FIRST.The box itself was 109lbs according to the box, so be careful moving it to the area where you're putting it together, and the desk itself is heavy, so put it together near its new home. All this heaviness leads to a very sturdy desk that I feel will last me years and years. You also want to try to put together in a big area, if you can, because there are many letters of the alphabet to pay attention to it, and if you mistake F for G or some such nonsense you'll end up with an odd looking desk.In the spirit of honestly, there was one piece damaged, looking like another heavy box knocked into the box containing my desk. I was planning to cover it with a sticker or something because I'm cool like that, but it turns out the area damaged is the panel facing my wall. I believe the damage happened during shipping, and the box was packed very well, so it's no fault of theirs; another box I received the same day was unrecognizable as a box, so I truly believe whatever happened happened in the UPS truck.I love this desk!

Beautiful, sturdy, quality
First off, this is a beautiful & well made desk. I bought it for my sister's craft desk but I am going to get one for my lab as the design is so versatile & seems very easy to clean. Absolutely top quality for the price. I think people who are disappointed must've recieved a defective item. It all fit well together, but has some tension holding it together, so the holes/pegs dont seem to line up perfectly until you give it a good push in some places & realize it needs to be slightly off to hold together correctly. This probably throws some people off in assembly. There is a great amount of space on the main desk top. Lots more room in the shelf space than I thought too. The only thing I would warn about is stability & shipping...We did not use wood glue (included) in the peg holes as we do not intend to put too much weight on the desk at once or move it frequently. It seems very sturdy even without the glue, but it will need to be partially disassembled if we move it to a new house, which was our intention. If you glue the peg holes, you will not be able to take it apart if you need to move it far, & even though it feels VERY strong, the design of the desktop makes it a weak point. If you tried taking it down stairs, up an incline, etc., that 'slab' desktop can easily break. Fortunately it is all cam locks and removable wooden pegs, which makes disassembly a breeze if it is not glued. Also, it is 91 lbs & in a flat box roughly the size of a crib mattress. This means shipping is risky & be prepared for the possibility that it will arrive damaged. The 1st time we recieved it there was damage to it, & we had to return it, which was a frustration since it is so large. We did get a free return label & had a pick up scheduled though, so all in all we were satisfied with the response from the seller. It was definitely worth it in my opinion, since it is such good quality & exactly what we wanted. I didn't like having to deal with a return but it occured to me afterwards that I would have had to dispose of it otherwise with bulk trash. So everything worked out.

Pretty good, could be cheaper
Overall, the assembly was hassle-free. It took about 35-45 mins. All the pieces were there but a few of the wooden pegs were chipped or worn. The desk itself is sturdy enough for what I need it for. It is just going to be a simple computer workspace for our small apartment. One complaint is that the paint was chipped on one of the boards upon arrival. Another downside was some of the paint seems worn or was never properly applied to the product when it was painted before shipment. There are dark spots on the desktop. The backboards on the shelves were not evenly cut so they do not apply evenly and looks choppy after assembly. The desk itself is nice and I hardly notice the backboards since I have the longest side of the desk up against a wall.
