It was a gift for a friend who had stayed at a MARRIOTT in Virginia and she mentioned how she would love to get one of their coverlets. I found one on Amazon.

It washed beautifully and just the right weight for hot summer nights.

The key word is that it's a 'coverlet' - not quite a bedspread, not quite a blanket. In the Fairfield Hotels, it's their bedspread, placed over the top bedsheet. It's a light weight cotton blend (not fuzzy or furry) only in white so it's easy to wash (with added bleach). The point of this, I think, is that it puckers up when you wash and dry it - which you would do before putting it on the bed anyway. Out of the package, it appears flat but after it's machine-washed and dried, it puckers up. It is very nice as a summer blanket but will not keep you warm in a cold winter. It's pricey but my husband thought it looked great and felt we should buy it.

This was a pretty coverlet. It does need to be washed to make the texture come out. It is VERY light weight. More like a sheet than a quilt. I ended up returning it because I was looking for something a little more substantial, but I thought the design was very pretty.
