Large and sturdy bed transfer board. Includes sturdy case.
I recently purchased the Seaside Brother Slide Transfer Board and I must say, it has been a game changer for me and my family. My elderly mother has limited mobility and requires assistance transferring from her wheelchair to the bed, bathtub, toilet, and car. This transfer board has made the process so much easier and safer for both my mother and her caregivers. The transfer board is made of high-quality materials, making it strong enough to hold up to 400lbs. The length of the board is 40.5" and the disk width is 12.2", which is perfect for safe transfers. The disk on the board rotates 360°, providing a natural transmission system, and the anti-skid structure on the back makes movement safer. The sliding disk greatly reduces friction during transfers, which is a huge relief for both my mother and her caregivers. The board has reduced the risk of injury for everyone involved, making the transfers much safer.Overall, I recommend this transfer board to anyone who requires assistance with mobility. It has made a huge difference in my mother's life and I am very grateful for it.A premium value when offered at about $210 at the time of our review.

Heavy, awkward, and greasy. Better for caregivers than for independent transfers.
I'm paraplegic, and I've always been very active. I had to learn to use a transfer board in rehab, but haven't used one in my life since that time. Unfortunately, though, I've grown older and fatter, and jumping from my wheelchair to the couch or some other surface just isn't as easy as it once was. While I'm still able to handle all my other transfers with no real problem, I have been having difficulties getting in and out of the driver's seat of my car, so I thought I'd try this interesting-looking transfer board to see if it could make the job a little easier.I was a little surprised when it arrived. This thing is huge! Very heavy, too, or at least awkward to carry around on my lap. The moving bit is a little intimidating at first, but it is easy enough to use. However, I have two big complaints about this device. First, there was some sort of unidentified greasy residue on it when I took it out of the box. I had actually already wrestled it out to the car, and had to come back inside the house to get something with which to clean the sliding surface. Very annoying. The second problem is something I have already mentioned: the weight. This board is too heavy for me to schlep around everywhere. I think it's meant more for caregivers to help move patients or loved ones with mobility impairments, rather than for disabled folks to use on their own. Not that it can't be used by a person independently, but the awkward. weight and size work against independence instead of supporting it. It does come with a nice zippered case with handles, though, and that really comes in handy for transporting this thing.Oh, actually, I DO have a third complaint! Like most DME (Durable Medical Equipment) products, this thing seems awfully expensive at the current price of $240. However, I took a look at some similar products, and they are in the same price neighborhood. I don't really understand why, but again...that's pretty typical for DME.Overall, I think this transfer board is useful and can be a lifesaver. But I think it helps the helpers more than it helps an active person trying to maintain her independent lifestyle. It's difficult to transport and it's expensive. Personally, I think I will do better with my old school wooden transfer board. It's a lot cheaper and it's not covered in some sticky mystery substance.

Very Useful
This is something that is incredibly useful if you or a loved one suffers from mobility issues. It comes with a travel case which allows you to store it or take it wherever you need to go. It is long but relatively thin so it doesn’t take up a ton of space. This can be used independently or with help from a caregiver if the mobility impaired individual has strength or coordination issues. You definitely want to ensure that you have it placed well, with the least amount of incline as possible. The seat itself swivels and it glides very well from one side to the other. This is why it’s important to minimize the incline as it will pose difficulties and potential safety issues as this board does not have any mechanism to minimize the movement while using. It is sturdy and very durable so it can easily handle a large amount of weight. The only issue that could come up is if the person’s backside is very wide because at that point they wont fit on the swivel seat properly and wont be able to easy glide. Overall, this is a great tool to have for someone who is mobility impaired and can definitely help offer some independence back or just simply make your life as a caregiver a little easier. The price point is fair for what you are getting. Would recommend.

This provides quite the ride between two chairs.
I have not tried this on an actual disabled person however I tried it on myself between two kitchen chairs.I weigh just under 200lb and moving myself from one chair to another with 36" between them was near effortless using just the edge of the table and my hands. No detectable flex and it goes without saying that it didn't break and drop me through the middle. With the turntable seat it seems it would be easier to move a disabled person on this than it would be on a varnished board however it might be a little trickier to get the turntable under them. If I learn anything more in the real world I will come back and update this review.

Easy to use transfer board.
My handicapped father need's help moving from one seated place to another (bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to recliner, etc), so the sliding disc makes it easy to move from one end to the other. It's not loose, so it's not like it's an uncontrollable move, but the angle from one place to another should not be steep anyway. The top surface is a little greasy (from the slide), so I do have to wipe it down first when using it, though I'm not sure if that'll effect the sliding process going forward. It's very sturdy, so there's no worry about it breaking under his weight (200ish lbs). The homecare nurse doesn't exactly approve of a transfer board with "moving parts", though.
