Movie Maps
No this isn't a map to the homes of movie stars that are peddled to tourist visiting LA but rather a series of maps covering 35 of the best and most popular movies of all times.

Cover damage. Great book.
This is where great material and responsive customer service go a long way.I ordered a copy of this for our son; it arrived with the front apparently mishandling during shipment. The seller quickly sent a replacement--no shipping problem, but this copy's spine was damaged, with one end sporting a hanging chad. While still not as I'd like, I was able to effect the repairs to make it giveable. My son will be blown away by the contents, so I anticipate the repaired condition won't make as much of an impression on the recipient as on the giver.Customer Service-3 stars (averaged). Quickly responsive, but odd that the replacement copy was damaged, too.Content-7 stars. Fascinating material at a remarkably good price.Hope this review helps. Enjoy this book!

THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR MOVIE FANS
If I told you there was a book of movie maps, you would no doubt picture in your mind a glossy, Dorling-Kindersley cross-section-style publication, with just a little bit of text and a lot of bright, photo-realistic artwork with easy-to-follow start here/end here walking paths a la The Family Circus. Sounds like a great book, doesn’t it? Too bad this isn’t that book. This is, instead, a collection of muddy, hard-to-see gouache art (sometimes done no larger than an 8x10 piece of paper). Because they were created so small with such muddy colors, the details can’t even be seen clearly when the artwork is reproduced as a whole (even when it’s actual size), which is why sections have to be enlarged to make the artwork even remotely enjoyable. The color schemes (often chosen for “artistic” reasons) are mostly to blame for washing out the details. Rather than vibrant, primary colors, a given “map” might be presented in a palette of pink, mauve, lavender, salmon, and fuchsia, washing out all detail to the point of incomprehensibility. Even the chapter titles to the wordy essays have been designed to look “artsy” to the point of being practically illegible. The one good thing I can say about the book is that the 35 films chosen were all absolutely great choices, which is why it's too bad this is not a book for movie fans. This is a book solely for fans of Andrew DeGraff’s specifically muddy, miniscule style of sketches. Hopefully DK will come along and do a book like this properly for the rest of us to enjoy.

The absolute best!
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my partner after we once poured over it together in a bookstore. The art is fantastic, and the writing is fun, too. Some complaints regarding the tinyness of the images are valid, but part of the fun is picking out the tiniest details (e.g. Luke Skywalker's decapitated hand) by scrutinizing every inch of each print. Saw another review critiquing a lack of numbered locations. All I can say is, well... if you know the movies you don't need a legend—so there! This is a beautiful book, and I highly recommend it—hoping to get another copy for myself soon. :)

5 star because price is right
Clever idea and execution marred by size-would be best if projectable or (if on a computer) magnifiable...lots of inaccessible graphic data inaccessible due to size....Price is a great leveler though-get a mag class or lamp

Original and a Great Gift
Makes a great gift for film buffs. I bought this as a Christmas present for a friend, and he loved it. The paper on which the book is printed is not of the best quality, but the maps are delightfully original and the color printing is good. The book includes descriptions of the film that aid in understanding the maps. Nice for fans of maps, too.

No Legends!
Like prior reviewer Arnold, I love movies and maps and often try to follow characters around on maps. Arnold warned that this is not that but I ordered Cinémaps anyway and like him, was a bit disappointed. DeGraff goes go to impressive detail drawing the locations and plotting the movements of the main characters. It would have been extremely helpful, however, to have included a numbered key pointing out the various locations on the map. If we look hard enough, we may be able to find some of them, but if we are unsuccessful, we don’t know if we just need to look harder, or if that particular scene has been left out. So, Andrew, If there’s a 2nd edition, please include map legends with all the locations spelled out and indicated on the drawing.

Low quality
Looks like a knock off, copy of actual book. Disappointed

Disappointed!
This book is rather expensive for something of a poor quality. All the pages are matt and aren’t as detailed as they first appeared. I bought this as a gift for my husband who is a movie fanatic but I thought it wasn’t not detailed enough to give as a gift.

Ok
Disappointing. Maps are too small to see the detail properly. Needs to be much bigger really. Idea is good and work put into the maps is great just cannot see them that well.

Great book that displays all of the artists Cinemaps collection
Great book that displays all of the artists Cinemaps collection. I purchased this along side the print of "Path of Fiction" which is the Pulp Fiction Cinemap to give as a gift. The book was a great accompaniment to the print and my boyfriend even ended up asking for another print for his upcoming Birthday.A great, unique gift for someone who's into movies, either or both!
