GREAT VALUE FOR AN ALL IN ONE SYSTEM!!
TONOR REVIEWREASONS FOR PURCHASEI decided to buy this Mic and boom arm setup for various types of reasons from podcasting, shooting product videos, and using it as a small but efficient boom arm for potential Go Pro or my main microphone for product shoots. This can also double as a mic stand depending on your setup either just out of frame depending on your camera setup for smaller productions.I started using audio equipment in college for my RADIO TV FLIM portion of my degree and used various types of equipment in a professional environment 20 years ago. It’s a literal plug and play system into any Apple product with a USB (you will need a USBC adapter if you don’t have one) where your MacBook should recognize the mic right away, if not it’s a simple change in settings in sound. If you’re a Gamer, it’s a great economical setup too if you have basic audio knowledge.ADAPTERI did purchase a ½ to ⅝ adapter for my Zoom H-6 (connected to an Aperture Adapter cold shoe to ¼) with a ZOOM SSH Stereo Shotgun mic which I currently use or a RODE VIDEOMIC NTG.Once you get use to the podcast setup and sound quality, it’s great for videos. SOUND IS EVERYTHING on youtube. When shooting product videos, I use this as my pseudo podcast setup for audio and it looks great in videos for my WIDE shot using a 10-18mm lens with my EOS R 24-105mm shooting straight down from a Manfrotto Tripod.VELCRO STRAPS4 velcro straps are great for connecting wires since I run one from my headphones and line out from the ZOOM H-6 into my EOS R, so no post production sound matching its necessary.I’ve used a LOT of velcro straps and this is a great edition with how they connect for quick adjustments wires since I run 2 of them.POP FILTERThe POP filter is AMAZING for the ZOOM H-6 because my shotgun mic is about 1-4 inches from my mouth and blocks 99% of all my “P’s” with monitoring my audio. Why send a lot of money on pop filter when you can utilize one from a kit. A nice value add.BOOM ARMThe boom arm itself is very simple to setup as a pivot point on a desk or table.Setup for the boom arm and mic just make sure you give yourself time with what your goals are either for podcasting, gaming, or product videos for the best setup as I have used several for various applications.Depending on your mic (if you use the Tonor mic, Rode, or Zoom) you will have to play with the adjustments of each pivot point in order to truly customize your level of tension.Be patient with this process since you will have to take into account of how your mic setup will be in various types of formats. To protect the desk with ANY boom arm setup with a clamp I always find a small piece of plastic or something to use as the top piece so you don’t mark up your desk depending on the weight of your alternative mic setup with the boom arm.MICVisually, the mic looks great too with that old school look with black and silver, this will just make your visuals POP even more for your application. If you decide to use this as a live setup, visually the Tonor mic looks great and very professional. The microphone is great quality for anyone starting out with entry level audio knowledge for Garage Band or Logic Pro from an Apple perspective looking to invest in equipment but not break the bank with spending $100’s of dollars for everything you need for a basic setup.VALUEBang for my buck, I could not be happier with how much USE I’m getting from the Boom Arm as I will never go back to a mic on a table vs Boom Arm.Any questions, please let me know.Happy shooting!

Great mic!
My only issues with this mic is the volume it distributes to the headphones it’s VERY low. I’m not sure if it’s a defect or if the mic is like that. I’m currently waiting for a response from the seller.

Great microphone at a great price
This is a very good microphone at a very reasonable price. The included arm seems well built and durable. It easily holds the microphone where you want it. Be aware that the clamp has a built in hook for hanging a pair of headphones. The opening between the hook and the surface of the clamp that sits on the top of your desk is about 2.5" so make sure that your desk doesn't have any supports or anything else that the hook will interfere with. As with any microphone the sound quality will largely depend on the EQ that you apply to it. Don't expect to sound like a radio DJ if you just plug it in and don't do any tuning. With correct placement and tuning, this mic sounds very good. The USB cable that arrived with mine didn't work (luckily I had another cable that I could use to confirm that it was just the included cable). I contacted Tonor directly to request a replacement cable they replied quickly and it was a painless process to get a new cable. I won't hold the defective cable against them since they replied quickly and made it easy to get a replacement cable. If I had to pick a complaint about the product other than my cable being defective I would say that a longer cable would definitely be nice to have. The included one is 6ft which is enough to route along the arm and reach under the desk a bit, but it probably won't reach all the way to your computer. I would recommend ordering either a 10ft cable or a USB extension cable (be sure to get an active cable or extension if the total length of the USB cables used will be longer than 15ft as required by the USB 2.0 spec). My solution was to mount a USB hub to the bottom side of my desk in a location that the cable would reach.

No, this is not a bad microphone. But is it for everyone ?
For a budget, this is a very good microphone. Now ... a word of advise: if you set this microphone in an untreated room, that has a bit of an echo or some background noise: forget it. The microphone will pick up everything around it. It is very sensitive. Now, if you went ahead and bought it anyhow. Then figured, it was too sensitive for you. Do you know what ? You still haven't wasted your money. Because the stand, that comes in the kit of the microphone, is worth MORE, than the whole kit itself. I've seen microphone boom arms costing 50% more than this kit before I reach the quality of the mount and boom arm of this kit. So, either way, this kit is not wasted money .. even if you find, the microphone doesn't suit your needs.

The base was a little loose
The instructions weren’t very helpful to set up but I just winged it and it turned out nicely but the clamp has no way to secure the arm holding the mic so I sometimes accidentally lift the whole arm out of the clamp stand which is annoying but the weight of it is decently weighted so it stays in there alright and I understand why there isn’t any screws there to keep it in to allow the mic arm to go 360 degrees. It came with cable ties which was very helpful and looks very professional. The manoeuvrability of the arm is very nice and sturdy but when you turn it 360 it is quite loose but it doesn’t like swing everywhere so it’s good. Also the clamp part also can be used as a headphone holder under your desk.

Premium quality feel and sound
After a long time considering which microphone to purchase, im so glad I went with this! Arriving in a well padded box, each component feels great quality. It all fits together very simply (it only took me five minutes from opening the box to being set up) and the table clamp is incredibly sturdy. Set up on the laptop was easy, and it worked with my video editing program with no hassle what so ever. Most importantly, the sound quality is perfect, with no background noise at all. Meaning you can cut voice clips in half, insert a new clip, and you can not hear where the join is! The only grip I have is with the pop shield. The attachment and arm for it don't match up to the quality of the rest of the set up, and it can be quite fiddly to get it in the right place. But once there, don't touch it, and all is good!

Amazing value for money, although it needs a bit of processing
I have bought this mainly for content creation and video conferencing.OVERALLI haven’t used other mics - besides the built-in microphone in the MacBook and bluetooth headphones, which absolutely suck -, but this one has really exceeded all of my expectations in the <£80 range.Expect to have to do some minor tweaks and adjustments to the signal (unless you are plugging it in directly and in a very quiet room).Want to get started with YouTube, streaming or podcasting? Look no further. Have more money to spend? I think there are better options out there (such as Røde).PROS- Voice quality is quite nice, sounds warm and full;- Imagine a huge improvement to any built-in laptop mic;- Boom arm is surprisingly good, stable, easy to assemble and to use;CONS- The control in front of the mic doesn’t have much use besides leaving the dial at 12-o-clock - leave it lower and it is too quiet, higher and it will have too much gain;- It is a bit sensitive and will pick up on background noises. Consider that it needs some form of processing and Noise Gate;- Being an USB mic, it might pick up some interference / noise from a dongle or adapter (I have to use a USB-C adapter for my Mac);- No software as far as I know, opposed to something like a Røde mic that has easy-to-use software to control it (I use OBS and Blackhole in my Mac to EQ and process some filters, which was a bit of a learning curve at the beginning);Note: Haven’t tested it for gaming, but I believe that my review and comments above still apply.

You're going to need an audio amplifier
This microphone sucks if you just plug it straight into a laptop or pc with no sound card or audio amplifier. The recording volume is really low and without a dedicated sound card you are going to suffer major latency problems like I did. So I've given 3 stars because I don't know the full potential of this mic yet as I need to get an audio amplifier/sound card. I'd recommend getting a proper XLR microphone and plug that into an audio amplifier.
