Looks good and excellent extraction rate
There were no problems with delivery and the unit arrived within expected dates. I replaced like for like. So the installation was fairly straightforward. The original Airflow 30 lasted for 7 years. I think it would have lasted longer if I had carried out more regular maintenance by carefully cleaning the rotary blades every 3 months or so. The use of baby powder after a shower is the main problem. The fan is more expensive than other fans, but it has neat styling, no back draught when closed, and very good extraction power. On the down side you have to purchase a separate timer unit if you want the fan to continue operating after it is switched off. The timer from my original fan worked without any problems. If you are thinking of replacing an existing 100mm fan, just be aware that the hole diameter in the ceiling will need to be increased, although the fan still connects to a 100mm flexible extraction hose. Perfect fan for the bathroom to keep damp at bay.
This is the larger size for a larger bathroom suitable if you have say a shower and a bath in the same room. The only issue is it is rather noisy, the tip is to have a separate switch from the lights so that you can just turn the fan on a separate switch and that it is not connected to the lights. Disappointing that the timer switch you can fit inside the fan is not included, BUT still this product is lucky to keep its 5 stars.Maybe I am being a bit too generous.

Easy to fit
Quick to fit and adjust. Fan takes ten seconds to start up and the same again for the vent to open. Relatively quiet.

Lovely and powerful
This fan is quite, quite excellent: When taking a shower, the humidity module (I installed this fan with the humidy-and-timer module, purchased separately but also from Amazon) automatically turns on the fan and by the time I step out of the shower the fan has extracted enough humidity from the bathroom that the mirror isn't even steamed up. This is in a 4m x 4m bathroom. Also, the slowly opening and closing iris mechanism has a delightful look to it.One word of caution: while the fan can be fitted surface-mounted using the "contoured skirt" provided, it looks rather ugly, protruding from the wall by about 9cm or so. To look good, it really needs to be fitted flush to the wall. In my case, that involved removing a chunk of wall around the existing vent hole to provide enough space for the fan's motor housing to be seated inside (15cm across by 8cm deep). Since every local builder I approached had core drills which could only cut a NEW vent hole, rather than widening an existing one, that meant a few hours work myself with cold chisels, brick bolsters, masonry drills and a masonry hammer.Definitely worth doing, however, as the fan now looks good and works extremely well.

Unreliable overpriced novelty item
Don't buy this fan - or if you do, at least don't install it recessed in the ceiling (or wall) or you'll end up with a 160 mm hole for a 100 mm duct and having to buy this same fan over and over when it breaks down because it is never a good time to have the ceiling (or wall) repaired in order to fit a decent fan.I've just had to buy my second one; first one died after less than 4 years of use during which time the timer module died not once but twice. As for the noise level of the rattly doors... is that a helicopter crashing through a pine forest? No, it is the normal operational noise of your Airflow Icon 30! Those little door are not only incredibly noisy but also require painstaking cleaning at least once a year so they do not become stuck. Finally the motor died - but only after the piston that makes the doors open had stopped working (in fact it looked sort of melted), leaving the doors permanently half-closed.In short:CONS: an overpriced unreliable novelty item with too many unnecessary moving parts which will keep breaking down over and over again and leave a hole behind which makes it impossible to fit anything else.PROS: life goes on.Seriously, don't buy this fan. Don't let my bitterness and regret be for nothing.UPDATE:...and less than a year into my second Icon fan the big plastic blades became loosened and started jamming against the casing. Enough is enough, this time I had a different fan installed, which involved a lot of extra work and expense. Thank you for the misery, Airflow; never shall you get another penny from me, ever.Whoever designed this fan should go back to engineering school to learn that it is one thing to design something that looks beautiful on a computer screen and another to make sure it works in the real world. This fan gives British engineering a bad name.

perfect...neat and quiet....best on the market
Strong enough to use in a bathroom close to kitchen or sitting room and as it closes up when not in use it keeps cold air from entering the room.....also looks unobtrusive and fits flush with the ceiling or wall. no negatives to report and worth the extra initial outlay.

Easy to install, noisy, but close off air which is great!
I am not an electrician but it seemed very simple to install, but my guy said it requires main connection which is not standard any more in the UK so make sure you have it to get this work.I would classify this fan as noisy, much noisier than my old chappy fan. HOWEVER if you have any issues with one fan pushing air all around the flat rather than away, then the fact this has a closing iris is making an amazing difference! It basically does not allow any longer to get the air pulled out of one bathroom to be pushed into the other oneor into the kitchen. Huge difference! It is a bit fiddly to figure out the timer, mine is set around 5-8 min - bear in mind this is not a smart fan if you just went to the loo in the middle of the night then it will go for that set time, not sensing that you were in just for a short time. I will resolve this with having a separate light in the bathroom and you better think of that too as in dead quiet night that 5-8 min is a loooooooooong time.I have one with humidity and timer and it seems to be working well and another bathroom just with timer.Overall I'm happy just wish it would be smart, a bit less noisy, and maybe a bit slimmer. However it solves the air being pushed around and for me that's a win!
