Great Product works without the recommended apps.
I initially bought it for my new car infotainment center as I am upgrading it and paired it up to my phone and I got this today (March 4) and had to start using it. It worked great. And I noticed the apps recommended on the disk weren’t needed, it was optional, I don’t have an android device available and I don’t want to hall my laptop everywhere, so I installed the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app on Apple App Store, and it worked great! Still got all the live data needed and were able to check fault codes. None for me luckily! But to be straight it’s a great product works for any app I think.

Doesn't work at all.
The unit I received does not work. It was tested on two different vehicles without luck. When first powered on or plugged in a red, green, and blue light will flash and the red light stays on. It never shows up in the bluetooth list. Can't find it on any of the apps I tested with. It comes with a mini cd. I haven't had a cd-rom drive for 10+ years. Looked online for manual without any luck. It was a good price. I'm returning it and buying a more expensive unit with the hopes it's easier to work with.

Don't bother for older Toyota/Lexus models
The device connects to the ECU in fast and slow communications modes, reads various gauges but won't pull DTCs and none of the more advanced features are read. Even in fast mode, gauges lag significantly and aren't accurate (+-5 to 10%). Documentation is terrible, and there was no list of supported protocols or PID it can read. Spend a little more on a better known brand.

When plugged in, set off more codes and completely disabled the car
At first I had trouble connecting the device through Bluetooth. But after a few tries it connected. Then it immediately set off warning lights for power steering, brakes, and traction control and disabled the engine from starting. This did not stop even after I unplugged the dongle. I was ready to call for a tow truck when I decided to try to disconnect the battery. After a few minutes, I reconnected it again and the engine started. The warning lights were gone. I don't believe this is the normal way it is supposed to work.

ODBII
Didn’t work with any the free APP. Paid for an App and was able to link the device to my iPhone but gave no information at all. Took the car to AutoZone and that worked.

Does its job
This is just the OBD plug-in the connect your smart phone or tablet to your car. Use the OBD-II software of your choice to read it.I like "Torque," available on the Play Store. Even the pay version, plus the cost of this unit is FAR LESS than the ones you see advertised.
