Read so many books and watched more than 1000+ videos… this one is the best…let me tell you why
This is my first review for a book on Amazon. I am a Taiwanese-American with a malignant narcissistic mom. This is beyond been often “admired as a winner of life” being raised in a high-demand yet extremely privilege background with private schooling, hoards of nannies and two ivy degrees, globe-trotting instagram worthy life, and yet deep inside, I always knew, since childhood (now I am 55) that there is something wrong with the way my parents, especially my mom treated me. I read so many books and watched all the videos to better my understanding of why I am so unhappy, prone to anger and fawning, hiding deep sadness, guilt (didn’t even know what it is) and shame (forever self-shaming and self-lying) and just inconsolable sorrows, with multiple suicide attempts…. I have access to psychological, emotional, physical support with counseling, and I put in the time to learn, reflect, resonate my own thoughts, getting to know myself. Now enough about me, I am doing better and definitely gained tools and skills (often cross-cultural as many Western ways are not applicable in the high-demand Eastern/Chinese culture) to protect and appreciate myself, I would like to give Ms. Lansville my highest respect and accolades for the two books she wrote (Covert Narcissistic Mother and companion Self-Care Workbook). I find her written with true and genuine knowledge of the subject matter, the organization of the book is clear and logical and not intimidating, the syntax uses warm and clear style like a caring nurse, and the diction is classic and elegant. All in all not only I learned, I felt a voice of a wise women (sybil) sharing not only her wisdom but also guidance. It is not one of these highly clinical books or a book to trigger the reader. I am coming from the perspective that often the authors of these subjects tend to use “megaphone-like” enticing and flicking words to engage readers, not Ms. Lansville. I thank her for sharing her knowledge and personal experience with her readers. My copies are full with notes in the margins and I plan to re-read them again. I highly recommend this book to everyone, daughters and sons.

Great Book for Healing and Moving Forward
Helps identify some of the areas that many may have not been aware of from their childhood. These examples will make sense, and then there will be some ideas for moving on from the feelings and emotions that may be continuing. Great book to help someone understand these issues and hopefully let go of some of the past and improve their self esteem and much more.

Helpful!
Such a helpful book on a far too overlooked subject.

Very entry level
Honestly the 5 stars are not warranted. I have learned more from It’s not you or even youtube videos on the subject. Mostly it’s just very basic. It was just a waste of my money. I’m going to donate it to my local book box. Such a disappointment. Most of the stuff in here is truly common sense.
