The content of the book is great, but the pages in the middle of the book are out of order. Didn't realized this until it was too late to return. Check the pages when you get the book.

It's a good book for beginner drum set players. It was actually recommended to me but my professor, who has a doctorate in Music Education with a focus on percussion. It's best used with the soundtrack, which is found on youtube, under the publisher's channel.

I was recommended this book by Music educator who had success with it in former student. One highlight was the included CD to help with learning. Unfortunately the advertisement of book cover and description are misleading at worst, outdated at best. There was no CD included and the cover notes downloadable materials. This was and is the description:“Including: MP3 CD packed with 41 Play-Along Tunes (with and without drums) Featuring World-Renowned Drummer, Stanton Moore! Including over 400 Demonstration Tracks of each of the beats, grooves and fills throughout the book, performed by Donny Gruendler (World Class Drummer, Educator and faculty member at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA!”How unfortunate, but will research alternatives and hope the book is helpful.

My daughter's been taking drum lessons for almost 2 years and when she switched teachers, he suggested we get this book to help her move forward more quickly. She likes the book and in a few short weeks has been able to master many of the techniques. She likes that it's more fun than the book she was using.

Really liking this so far. I started off kind of rushing through it, then decided to start over and really do every single thing the book says to do. I've noticed a lot of improvement. Nice for someone who doesn't have the time or money to take lessons, but I'm sure an instructor would help!

The video lessons aren't free against at the snare drum.

As a teacher of about 10 years, I have spent thousands on books hunting for the best systems I could find to help my students not only to progress in a well rounded way, but to have a great time. This book hits ALL the buttons and comes with an online download able package with videos and audio files for everything. This book is not a book... It's a complete learning package. Unbelievable value, and a work of art. Mark Wessels is a rock star.

I use this in my day job as a drum teacher specifically for pupils who do not want to go down the exam route. It starts with the very basics but then progresses quickly to playing with music and different genres and styles. Along the way there are lots of extra technique studies (which I find lacking in a lot of modern books) and 'extra practice' sessions showing more advanced and difficult exercises for when you've mastered the basic beats. The backing music sounds contemporary and real, unlike some other titles out there. A fantastic companion for your journey into drumming.
